Had my Bronco a couple months. 2000 miles. I have the 2.3 manual in my Badlands. When I start it up in the morning I hear what sounds like a grinding, somethings loose kind of noise. When I push the clutch in it seems to go away. It also seems to go away after it has been driven a while. Anyone else experiencing this? Is it normal? I have an appointment to bring the truck in tomorrow 1/12/22. I will let everyone know how I make out.

UPDATE: Well its been a crazy 6 weeks since I brought my truck in for the noise I was hearing. On Thursday last week my Ford rep called and said the transmission was in but there were a "couple parts" that would not be in till this week and April 1st. At that point I was resigned to just waiting till the first week in April to get my Bronco back. On Friday I got a message from the dealer. They said they were working on my truck and that it would probably be ready on Monday, today? I really didn't pay much attention as I really though they had the wrong person. Low and behold they call today and tell me my truck is ready. I immediately drove down in the rental they gave me 6 weeks ago and picked her back up! It was like getting a new Bronco all over again. Drives great and no noise. I'll be sure to keep an ear out for anything that sounds off.Not sure what those "couple parts" were and I do have a message into my Ford rep about what that was about. I will keep updating with any news I hear, and if any issues arise. I appreciate all the responses and comments from forum members over the last month and a half. Truly a great group! If anyone has any questions please reach out here and I'll answer as soon as possible.

This is great news! ...yes, please. I’ll take all the updates, parts ordered and all (if/when you get that info). Happy for you, enjoy!

If you got an invoice with details on that, it would be helpful to see that as it should show the parts that went in.

Update: So far so good with my repairs. I'll be taking a longer trip this weekend with some off road time as well. I also got an email from my Ford rep that they will be giving me the Ford Protect Limited Maintenance Plan for 3 years or 45k. ($395 value)I guess thats what you get for having your Bronco tied up for 6 weeks and a new transmission. At least I wont have to pay for oil changes and tire rotations etc. for a few years.

Sure...here you go. In the notes it says "noise goes away with pressure on 6th gear." Also says "clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, all ok."

It looks like they did a good job of collecting data and the Ford Engineers made the call. It's also good they replaced the slave cylinder and bearing even if they were not responsible for the noise.

It’ll be interesting to see how similar our “invoices” are. I’ll share mine once obtained.

UPDATE for mine: I picked my Bronco up Friday evening—after service hours, reason I don’t have my invoice yet—19 days [too long] in service. It could have very easily been longer, so I am thankful for the “low time in service”. Still, should have never happened so every day, I missed my Bronco. I give credit to this community of people and sharing of experiences. I truly don’t believe it would have happened this quickly for me without the sharing and knowledge..essentially a jumpstart on diagnosis and repairs needed. Thank you so much to everyone! I hope moving forward, it doesn’t continue to happen and that we can all enjoy our rides with a peaceful mind. Cheers to staying connected!

So I was finally able to view your invoice, and realized… it sounds like they replaced the gearbox entirely? Am I reading that right? My dealer said I had the only MT they’ve sold and hadn’t heard of this issue yet. Would you be willing to share your dealer contact via PM so I can give reference to my dealer?

I don’t event want to type this message, but I’m beginning to have some similar noises. I have around 2200 miles. Cooler temps, start it up with clutch pedal in and it’s fine. Let it out (in neutral) and the somewhat subtle grinding begins. After about a minute it goes away.

My build week of 11/17/21.

@CGBadlands21 and @Nfauv06
What’s your build week?

did it get worse than what I described?
I have a 22 Black Diamond and have had the noise since new… it had 8 miles when I picked it up, no 6,600 but not issues except the noise

I would bring it up with the dealer. There shouldn't be a sound like that coming from a new vehicle.

Definitely bring it to the dealer. It wont go away. If it's the same issue they will need to replace the transmission. I had it done. There is a copy of my invoice in this thread somewhere you can look at and share with your service dept.

I've yet to have this issue with my 2021 manual 2.3 I4. I hope that means it's not going to be an issue, but I'll keep an eye (ear) on it.

Listened closely this morning. No noticeable noise when in neutral and clutch pedal out. Seemed to only be a colder weather phenomenon for me… will likely come back this fall and then I’ll take it in.

All actuality mine has 6600 miles on it and doesn’t make the noise anymore, I think it may have to do with the heavy duty clutch they factory install! I drive the hell out of my bro and no issues!

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

One of the first bad posts I’ve seen on the 2.3. How cold is it in your area?
Ah, did you miss all of the failed Turbo (really. waste gate) issues?https://thebronconation.com/forums/threads/my22-2-3l-turbo-failures-p25b4-c.11509/#post-179955

This is mainly on 2022 models with the 2.3 engine. Same happened on the new 2022 Tundra as well (wastegate issues)

Has anyone found the answer yet for the grinding noise with the manual transmission when it's cold start and the engine isn't warm?
This is very frustrating not to mention embarrassing start a brand new $60,000 truck and it sound like a broken lawn mower
