In my screenplay (in progress), "Fire On the Mountain," the Phoenician princess Jezebel, having earlier married King Ahab of Israel, arrives in her new homeland. The first thing she does is ask to be taken to a mountain top and has an impromptu alter built, upon which she pours out a "drink offering" and burns frankincense to her "deity," Baal.

She definitely stir up the political and religious pot. Things don't end well for the pagan princess.

Well the wind stopped but not the snow. A friend sent this to me from his neighborhood outside of town. We got a little less at the gas plant. This crap is heavy!

I really hate my plow truck today...it worked hard all day but I'm just sick of being in the rolling office. 32 miles today and a half tank of fuel WOOHOO.

We had a classic St. Patrick's Day dinner. Pizza! Let's face it. Boiled dinner sucks. I like the veggies, but the beef is horrible!

King Ahab related to the captain of the same name???

Ahab was a king of Israel (late 800s BC). After Solomon died, there was civil war, and the famous "Ten Tribes" separated off from the successors of David and Solomon in the south (Judah). The North retained the name "Israel."
Ahab was one of many failed kings of the Northern Kingdom, perhaps the worst. He was a very good general but a very bad king: I'm presenting him as a kind of "Breaking Bad" character, who started out well but went (very) bad, mainly because of his Queen, "Jezebel," a Phoenician princess who detested the monotheistic God ("Yahweh"/Jehovah/"the Lord") of the Hebrews and promoted pagan idolatry.

So where does Melville come in? Captain Ahab's mother died in childbirth, and, dying, cursed him and gave him the name of an evil, cursed king to live up to. Or down to.

My hope is that this script (a series) will get sold and get the treatment of "The Chosen, which has brought the New Testament to life for millions. It's really superb--get it on Amazon Prime. My "Fire On the Mountain" is strictly old Testament "sword & sandal." Hey--it'll have dynastic conflicts, pagan orgies, battles--all sorts of stuff you don't get in the New Testament!

We have huge amount of wind starting a little later this afternoon. All of you east of NM you've been forwarded. I'm blowing tish your way. Don't know what or where, but it seems to never be our sunshine or low humidity.

Oh, no offense taken!
Point is, people used to be familiar with the major Bible characters and stories--and Ahab & Jezebel truly are --but not anymore. So I explain. And I'll have to work a bit of history info into the script.

It's like you're fresh off the trails, and pull up to McD's and muddy and happy, and somebody says, "Oh, too bad somebody splashed dirt all over your car." Then you have to try to explain where you've been and why you're happy with, even proud of, all that mud, and the whole purpose of a Bronco truck is..."
Then they say, "Well, okay, if you say so, um...."

So we explain.
