Grandmother used to say "You're the limit" and chase you around with a wooden spoon, to which we would reply, "what limit? the speed limit?"

My mom used a wooden spoon to hit us. One day she was mad at me for something that I did and she was getting wound up. So, I grabbed all the wooden spoons out of the drawer and hid them. Well, being Italian, we had the decorative 2 foot wooden fork and spoon on the kitchen wall. She was so mad that she couldn't find her spoons, she grabbed that big ass wooden spoon off the wall and wielded it like a battle axe. I ran out of the house!😆

I went on a high school ski trip to Quebec for a week and while I was there, I got an earring on my left ear. When I got home from the trip, me, my parents, and my brother are sitting in the kitchen. I still have my ski hat on. My mother says, "Take your hat off and stay a while!" She pulls it off of my head and I immediately put my hand over my left ear. My brother was sitting across from me and noticed the earring and his eyes widened. My mother was very cool about it. I went downstairs to put my skis away and she came down to talk to me. She just told me not to wear the earring in the house and put it in your ear after you leave. Please, don't let your father see it.

I’ll never forget the time my dad took out his belt on my brother, he must have thought Dad was joking or something, because with every hit my brother would be laughing, and would laugh harder with every hit, and the more my brother would laugh the faster and harder our Dad would swing….
Finally, Dad looks at Mom and says, “what am I supposed to do, he keeps laughing” and at this point Mom and Dad started laughing a little bit too…
We still bring it up every now and again!!!
I started thinking that maybe the pain was all in our heads……
The next time I got the belt……NOPE….
It wasn’t, it hurt….🤣🤣🤣
