This will be my nothing fancy 2023 Badlands 2dr build where I can keep track of all the modifications and adjustments I make to the vehicle. If you are looking for a lifted monster with 37's or above then this build will not be for you. At some point I might swap the 33" (285/70r17) for 34"'s (285/75r17) or 35"s (35x12.5R17).

A little back story. I am a long time Jeep owner going all the way back to the early 80's with the CJ 5 and 7 series, then I had a YJ, TJ and a few JK's along the way. This is my daily driver and my off-roading is mainly limited to easy and moderate trails. Nothing crazy and no extreme rock crawling.

I've always been a fan of the older Broncos but never owned one. When I was in the market for a new vehicle this time, I did briefly consider a 2dr Jeep JL but really wanted the Bronco!

Purchased on 3/8/2024. It's a stock'ish Badlands 2dr model with the only factory adds being:
  • 10-speed Automatic Transmission
  • Modular Front Bumper
  • Hot Pepper Red Paint
  • Keyless Entry
  • Towing Package

Here are my immediate plans for the Bronco:

Future plans:

  • 285/75r17 or 35x12.5R17 tires which would bump me up to about a 34" or 35" from the stock 33" and still fit the stock sized wheels I ordered w/o any other modifications
  • ARB on-board Air Compressor or Power Tank
  • 12" Infotainment upgrade package. I wanted the 12" screen from the start

I am sure there are other things I am missing and forgetting but I'll add them as I go. I'll post up photos of the mods and adds once they are completed.

For now, a photo of the day it was purchased.

Now that I'm out of the game I recommend Metal Tech, I like their design.

I believe @Roughstock11 put in the Metal Tech horns so he might be able to give you some tips.

Thanks!

I am not looking forward to removing the winch and bumper to install the horns but I probably need to get it done..

I ordered and received my Midland MXT275

  • Midland MXT275
  • Midland Ghost Antenna MXTA25
  • Mic extension cable MXTA31
  • M2M under dash install bracket (goes under dash and above glovebox)
  • TrailRax Trail Sight Mount for antenna

I thought the radio kit came with an antenna mount for the Ghost Antenna but it did not so I circled back and ordered the Midland Low Profile Antenna Cable MXTA24.

The 6 P's come to mind here: Prior Planing Prevents Piss Poor Performance

It's still the Ice Age here but next weeks weather forecast says it'll back in the 50's so I might get it all slapped in some time next week.

Not a huge rush as most of my off-road trips are solo and it won't be used much anyways.

I also want/need to order a 2nd LifePo4 battery for my TigerMoth and as stated previously, I need to do frame horns..

My Bronco is pretty much as I want it so my next focus will be on getting the TigerMoth some creature comforts like a better mattress and a few interior upgrades.

Getting ready for my bi-weekly off road trips to fire back up. Most of my camping is spent at areas without electric hookups so I ordered a 2nd battery for the TigerMoth. This will give me 200Ah of power when off grid and I have a solar panel to recharge if needed.

I'll now have 2 of these and run them in parallel..

Should be plenty of power since my car fridge will stay in the Bronco and be running off my Dometic PLB 40 Power Bank. I'll keep the car fridge in the Bronco so I can have cold drinks and lunch when out on the trails. I generally break camp in the morning and spend the entire day on the trails.

Next up for the TigerMoth is a brighter exterior light (need to do some research) to better illuminate the pull out kitchen area and a better sleeping pad for the interior.

A few minor upgrades to add to my 'build'

  • Installed passenger side center console molle panel
  • Installed molle door pockets
  • Installed StickerFab Aux switch stickers
  • Installed 2nd battery in TigerMoth

The StickerFabs are a crap install and the radio one is crooked but it'll do. I didn't see a sticker for ditch lights so I used floods.
