Where are you headed this year?

Wherever you go, there you are!

Mar 10, 2025

I thought this might be a cool thread for people to share where they plan on taking trips this year.. Feel free to add in where you are going, what you are doing and mention if others are invited to join in any off-road and camping trips this year..

I generally try to get out every few weeks in the Spring, Summer and Fall for camping and off-roading fun. I am a weather wimp and plan them around any cold nights and avoid any forecasted rainy days. These short tips are local'ish and generally 3 day - 2 night trips.

My major trips for this year are:

  • Black Hills, SD with several other Bronco owners from May 24-26 (Memorial Day weekend)
  • Overland Expo MTN West from August 22-24 in Loveland, CO
  • A mega Bronco extravaganza from August 30-September 6 in Ouray, CO

*If you are in the Nebraska area, you are also more than welcome to join me on any of my bi-weekly off-road and camping trips. For those I generally like to go out for 3 days and 2 nights, disperse camp, and go during the weekday for less trail traffic..

I have a short trip this week (wed, thurs and fri) to the Nebraska National Forest. Short notice, but any and all are welcome to join in the fun.

Where are you going this year?

After I pick up the 2025 I will be going back to Moab for the OffRodeo, again. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

You have to let me know when you go. I'm just 6 hours from there. May not be able to meet you up there, but I never know.
Can't wait to hear when you get to pick it up!

I have opportunities to go on some trips, Moab and Ouray. Even this shaky economy wouldn't keep me from going. But life has other plans.
I will need to follow this thread to hear about everyone's adventures!

Hope you all have fun and stay safe!

Well be out there July 4th weekend. Just by myself with the fam, I wasnt planning on anything real stupid, but if there are others, its prime bad decision time.

IMG_0195.jpegIMG_0183.jpegIMG_0180.jpegI went to the Philippines January 27, left there to do wreck diving in Chuuk Lagoon, Micronesia on March 1, will go back to the Philippines until April 28. Return home to Gold Canyon, Arizona, recuperate for 7 to 10 days then drive a 23 Bronco from Gold Canyon, Arizona to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Will start driving the 2nd week of May and either return to Arizona in September or continue south to the tip of Argentina so to drive from the Arctic to the Antarctic. I that happens it will take 15 months. It is my dream to drive this but it is my wife’s nightmare. She wants to go to Alaska but does not want to continue south through Central and South America. My plan is to be really nice for the several months going north then she will want to go south. Plan B- BEG

Nice! Sounds like you love your adventure! Have you ever seen a show called Long Way Up? It's a documentary series, where they travel from Ushuaia, Argentina (the southern tip of South America) to Los Angeles, California, covering approximately 13,000 miles. There were some parts where they, shall we say, went incognito. I would recommend watching it before you make that trip.

Yes, since we retired, 10 years ago we travel 8 months per year then go back home for 4 months. I have been to all the countries in South America (Ushuaia plus an expedition to the Antarctic) before and Central America that we would be driving through. I have been to Alaska from the lower 48 12 times. Thanks, I will check it out

Since I am not retired, my list is short!
Our first trip is to head up to our place just North of Atlanta Michigan to Canada Creek Ranch, no this is not in Canada but here in the States.
In May we move out 5th Wheel off of storage and onto a lot that we get every year in the campground.
The trips we have planned this year follow in this order.
May:
Move the 5th Wheel and do some sight seeing (not shooting Elk or Deer) but to actually watch Elk and Deer around the area like we always do.
June:
Go up to our place and do some off-roading in CCR then go across the street to do some more off-roading on the Atlanta and Mio trail system.
July:
Head up for two weeks to Brimley area in the U.P. and camp at the Bay Mills Casino Camp Ground and do some Yooperlite searching.
In the same two weeks that we are up there, head over to the West side and camp at a place called Indigo Bluffs in Empire, and do some sight seeing over there.
August:
At the end of August first part of September, head out to Ouray Colorado for a week, join up with many Bronco Nation Friends that I’ve got to know and became very close with here, and when we went out to Moab Utah last year.
More than likely there will be more Bronco Nation family off-roading meetups to come.
A Bronco group shot of most of us out in Moab last year…..

Never dove Chuuk but flew through once, living on Kwajalein for nine years… beautiful water and diving in Micronesia…

The Pan-American Drive sounds amazing!

OK, well, first thing isn't a trip, it's getting my back fixed so I CAN go on trips. But after that:
  1. Some day trips around home (Santa Clarita, CA) scattered throughout the year (I try to do a run every month or two. After that I get jumpy)
  2. A work trip to Nashville in May
  3. Big Bear Bronco Bash in June with SoCal Broncos
  4. Colorado trip the first week in Sept. with some friends from Bronco Nation

BTW, we are starting to beat the drum for Big Bear Bronco Bash. It's June 5-8, 2025. For more info, check out the So Cal Broncos website BBBB page here.

While it's great, it also means you are older. Everyday when I wake up in the morning I think to myself ➡️ 'yay, I made it another day!' 😂
