I recently purchased a 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands edition.
I am mostly happy with the car as it meets both our on and off-road needs.
However - the infotainment system is substandard.
Why does the FordPass/Android Auto setup need a usb connection for google maps? This seems to be at least 20 years behind the times.
Second annoyance:
Why is a big portion of the smallish map screen covered by a useless search box?
Plugging in to the usb connection makes my phone less useful and cuts out some of the ability to do voice commands in the Bronco (eg changing radio stations).
It would be nice to have the map functionality come via bluetooth connection so that when I might have need of maps they are always there for me and that the other voice command functions in the Bronco are not disrupted.
Is this a google/android issue or is it a Ford issue? I am using a either a Pixel 5 or 6 with native Android.
Might be an Android thing. My iOS connects via BT and Apple CarPlay works fine as well as all voice commands, yadda, yadda. It all works for me when it's plugged in too.
Good luck,
WC
