2024 Big Bend, purchased new in 25. At 945 miles, during a bath & drying off. I noticed cracks in the passenger side roof panel. Not ssure if pic uplouploaded. Took to purchasing dealer, 9/4/25, to get claim started. Dealer did not submit warranty claim for 8 days. Contacted numerous times about the claim. Dealer finally submitted claim on 9/12/25. Ford took 17 days to approve the claim on 9/29/25, dealer claims. Dealer now telling me that panel is on backorder w/ no ship date available. Now have 2200 miles on Gizmo & crack is expanding. Has anyone else had cracking issues?

I have a 2025 that was purchased new in April. I now have 8700 miles and I've began to notice small cracks about a thousand miles ago which are continuing to get worse. My thinking was to wait closer to my warranty expiration and bring it in for a warranty claim but I think I'll need to take it in sooner. I have never taken the top off, never had any roof racks or accessories on it, and the only off-roading I've done are a couple of gravel roads. It's sad to think about the money these things cost to have such poor quality tops.

Hi there. I’d like to assist with your concern. Could you please send us a DM with your VIN and mileage so I can look into this further?

Yeah you will want to take it in now. There are folks that are on their 4th replacement already. The MIC tops are prone to cracking until Ford does something about it we have to just replace them until the warranty is up then live with what we got. Hope you replacement is a good one. Mine at least waited till I was out of warranty to show its cracks. Extended warranty doesn’t cover the top, FYI

I didn’t think I had any problems with my top until I took a close look at it in sunlight. Now I do see just a few very small cracks starting under the rear windows. I have a 2023 Wildtrak so my warranty will expire March 2026. However, based on what I see here I’m starting to think if I made it 2-1/2 years with only a few cracks I may be better off keeping this one, especially hearing some folks are their 4th top! I’d hate to replace this one prior to March and have numerous cracks in a replacement by April 2026! I’m assuming if replaced, the replacement top is only warranted through the original 3-30k from purchase date and not 3 years from the replacement date. Can anyone who has had a replacement confirm this?

If you get it replaced you will get a separate warranty for the new top but im not sure the details. I think it's around 12 months.
I had mine replaced and now my second top is cracking way worse than the first. Im out of warranty by several thousands miles. I filled a claim with Ford and they offered to help pay for a replacement. It will still cost me over $1K. It's bad enough that I am going to have it replaced and I'll watch the next one more closely.
I wish I knew if wrapping or painting the replacement one would help.

My 2024 2Dr BBSQ has them and taking it in Nov. 9 for the top and large list of things. The service person asked if we should just replace the whole Bronco when they heard my list. Not terrible funny but also funny.
My list:
Hard top cracked below windows
7 speed trans gravel sound
4 Lo lash slap sound with clutch
Seat belt won’t retract consistently
Rear shock recall
Defroster wire fell off probably due to all the leaks
Gauge has funny shadows

Wish me luck!

That’s exactly what I’m afraid of; getting this one replace with one that turns out to be far worse! 🙄

That is a concern.
If you do get it changed make sure you keep an eye on the new one because the warranty period is shorter.

I am wondering if there is any kind of protectant that can be added early on to prevent the wear and tear from sun and weather damage like these cracks your seeing.

Certainly they can’t shorten the warranty on the top when replaced. I was under the impression the extended warranty extends the factory warranty exactly. No?

That is sad to think that the thought of getting a worse top than the failed one we already have is insane. I guess the devil that you know is better than the devil you don’t know. I am going to just try and rhino line the top to fill my cracks and hope for the best. But it is a bummer that I have to spend an extra $500-800 to fix a bad top.

@Jakob1972 I probably should have taken your approach instead of getting mine swapped. The Second top has more cracks than the original. Bronco is currently at the dealer to get swapped again (which they are making me pay some for because of the mileage). It was supposed to be ready this week, but get this....the dealer had to request another replacement top bc the one they received had cracks. This may never end........

Mine has been at Jones Ford for 10 days and no word. I called and they told me to keep the loaner as somebody was out sick. I may have to move it to another dealer.

Does the lemon law apply for tops.Class action lawsuit?

Dang that is rough. I guess I am lucky really, I didn’t notice I had cracks till I had over 40k on the clock. If I found the cracks sooner I would probably be on my 4th top by now.

I am sure there is going to be a class action lawsuit. The sucky thing is it will cost Ford a truck load of money but you and I will get a check for $100 and a handful of layers will have huge paydays. Not really going to do us any good.

Small world. My family is mostly from the Ash/Longwood areas. I’ve spend many days there in the 70’s and 80’s cropping tobacco, raising pigs, etc! I hate to hear about your bad experience at Jones’. My family has given them a lot of business over the years.
