Gladesmen

Feb 10, 2025

Anyone see the Jeep commercial with the Bronco. Some folks are talking how Jeep did bronco dirty but I saw it as hey we inspired people to make a (possibly better) adventure vehicle. And Ford says they talked to Jeep folks to find out what was the best parts of Jeep and what they need to fix. Also Han Solo says pick the vehicle that makes you happy. And as I drive down the highway on a long road trip to a place to go wheeling I am happy with my Glades. Bronco is not for everyone but it is for anyone.

I did… the commercial was long winded and boring.

Thought it was a movie trailer.

They have the Colorado - the ZR-2 with Bison package is pretty sweet.

Nobody in their right mind would buy the Jeep brand.

Every prior company that owned it has gone under in some way.

Willys
Kaiser
AMC
Chrysler

You forgot, mercedes benz, who as far as I know is still in business also owned Jeep.
Their engineers spent a great deal of time in Toledo studying jeeps 4wd system.

Daimler de-merged in the nick of time, but Jeep remained part of the Chrysler Group (a subsidiary) throughout.

But the company was DaimlerChrysler AG. Chrysler was the junior partner in the merger. Took until 09 for Daimler to fully devest their last 20%.

I'm not an expert, but isn't this a Ford built vehicle? 31 seconds into the video:1739495095092.png

Chrysler Group was a legal entity that was part of DaimlerChrysler.

Atleast 8 million per 30 seconds just to air. That's alot of money spent by heep the Bronco envy is creating a complex. FWIW like Jeep, Harrison Ford hasn't made a relevant movie in many decades and I didn't even like those ones.

Now that vendors have a real market, fact is, we Bronco owners can probably teach Jeep owners a thing or two about that!

So, you took major large parts off the body and stored them in the storage area of the body and expected to keep open storage space? Really? How could the design be different?
I get the idea. What if you’re out with your doors off and you get hit with a blizzard? You got doors to put on. How about stiffer window mechanism? How about removable window frame. How about permanent frames or a partial frame with a bigger window drop. If could figure out a solution, why can’t the “engineering team “ at Ford?

Hit by a blizzard? Huh? Because the engineering team has cost targets, weight targets, and functional/useability targets to meet. And I still don't see how a fully retracting window is not the best design solution for either off-vehicle storage or on-vehicle storage (4-door only). I'm not sure what design solution you came up with other than suggestions. How would removable frames work?

What’s your point? You open the windows to store the doors. The frameless design allows the glass to buffet and rattle every time you hit a bump. It’s a piss poor design. End story.
If you need tools to remove the doors you could’ve made a removable frame.
If you want me to reengineer a door for Ford? I suggest you write a check and I’ll get started in the morning.

I think you’re exaggerating a bit.

I hit plenty of bumps. The windows don’t rattle. Hell they have less issues in crosswinds than the Acura Vigor I once owned that had frameless windows.

Knows the cheat code.

I get it. But they won't get me back. I sold my Jeep to have my Bronco.

I have a 21 badlands. The windows shake like hell. I’ve tried the adjustment trick. It helped but they still rattle. I think if you spend $60k on a vehicle the windows shouldn’t rattle.

If you have a better window design that will help sell more Broncos, develop it for Ford and they'll pay you for it.

Since the interval wiper incident Ford won't look at anyone's outside ideas and they won't pay either. This is why they don't have remote start with a manual trans.

When did they start? Did you bring it in under warranty?

Out of the box. I did bring it in. I was told it was normal. Don’t know how they could determine “normal“, I was one of the first deliveries at the dealer. Honestly, Ive been unimpressed with the level of knowledge and technical expertise at any of the 3 local dealers.

Sounds like you have a dud.

When dealers are unhelpful, going to corporate is the only solution.

Had to do that with a prior vehicle that was having paint issues - eventually I got it sorted out.
