The Real Reason Why Ford Doesn't Sell A Bronco Pickup Today

"When Ford announced the Bronco, Jeep was kind of playing a game of its own with the Wrangler. There was no other vehicle on the market that could compete in terms of off-road abilities and open-top feel. This was until Ford came up with the Bronco which managed to get close to the Jeep's abilities. Its lack of a solid front axle puts it a bit behind, but it is safe to say that the Bronco is the second most capable 4x4 on the market today.

With the above in mind, it would only make sense to produce a Ford Bronco pickup."

Top Speed believes a Gladiator rival would sell well, especially if produced with a stubbier wheelbase vs. what Jeep puts out, but it won't happen unless Ford cancels the Ranger.

We've talked about a Bronco pickup before, but what do you think about it competing with the Ranger? Would you take a Bronco pickup over one? Personally, I wouldn't. I think the Bronco is fine for its purpose as is, and if I wanted a truck, I would go larger than a Ranger.

But if the Bronco Pickup is built at MAP, does it really cannibalize sales from the Ranger?

They will never do it,F stopped listening to customers years ago.
Obviously this is not true… customers drive sales, and Ford is still selling lots of vehicles.

Build it!! It will sell..
Built on 4 door chassis, but 2 door with a microbed.... it will not be a "pickup" just a variant of a Bronco like it was in the 1st Gen... make it 56 L x 40 W bed ... Fully enclose the cab with a fixed roof.. and people will overland them with roof tops plus extra storage in the bed like the gladiator but smaller.. and start a new segment... SUT, Sport Utility Truck. 🤔

Agree to disagree… maybe worthless to you, but to most of us a full-size bed (eight foot) is more than we’ll ever need.

The last full-sized bed truck I owned was a ‘72 Chevy, and it was great, but I havent missed not having an 8’ bed. The move to four-door pickups was a no-brainer to me…

People who need a two door with an eight foot bed can get them, but the vast majority of us are looking for “crown Vic’s with a bed, albeit a shorter bed

The 6G bronco can haul a 4×8 sheet of plywood, the way it sets today.... I guess your still waiting on a V8 Bronco with at least a 6.5 foot bed with a normal tailgate as well. Plus able to haul your skid steer behind it..🙄

Lack of a useable bed is why the Gladiator is a failure.

I'd like to chime in on this. The current Ranger does not have 48" between the wheel wells and can't hold 4x8 sheet flat on the floor. The New Ranger will be the first Ranger to ever have the capability to haul 4x8 sheet flat on the bed floor between the wheel wells.

In my 20's to mid-50's I was quite the industrious lad. I was rebuilding my first house and needed to carry sheets of 4x8 plywood and sheetrock and other lumber materials. I got by with the 7' bed Ranger STX I had.

In 1999 I moved to my current abode. An antique house that needed major repair and renovation. I bought a F150 at that time, a full 8' bed because "oh, I needed the manly capability of carrying 4x8 sheet". Lol. Yeah, the big projects, I usually just paid $40 for a delivery fee and had thousands of dollars of materials delivered and placed in the yard as it slid off the tillting deck of the F650 delivery truck. I'd have to make 10 trips in the F150 and manually load/unload all that stuff, or pay $40 and unload it in 1 minute.

Post the F150 life now, I now have a 5' bed in the H3T. It can carry 4x8 sheet between the bed walls sitting on 2x4 standoffs. 99.999% of the time the average Harry Homeowner can live with less than 48" between his leg... er... wheel wells.
