I don't even know who he is. At the time I liked the quote and his name was attached.

Very interesting writing. Good for you. We have a close friend Ed Ashurst. He has written I believe twelve books. A well known cowboy and rancher. He is a bit of a legend in these parts. His family and his wife are multigenerational ranchers and cowboys. It's a beautiful way of life. Hard work for sure.

Edit: I just looked up Monson. I had no idea.

I'll have to look up Ed Ashurst. None of his titles in the Boston inter-library loan service. Maybe his agent would be interested in representing a new "contemporary Western" title. Mine has a strong rodeo subplot, and I could always use another fact-checker. I'll DM you.

Re: Thomas Monson. "Trad" wives are big on putting up positive, inspirational messages as wall art. Check homewares next time you're in Hobby Lobby, you'll see lots. And the Latter-day Saints are big on trad wives and all this, so LDS-originated quotes, sayings, and verses tend to show up in the intermountain West. Thus: the Monson quote came to your attention.
