Per Car and Driver, sales are down. Wranglers are up. They chalk it up waning interest. I chalk it up to the huge price increases. Your thoughts?

Loser: Ford Bronco
Ford saw several double-digit jumps, from the Maverick to the electric Mustang Mach-E and even the aging Edge. But the Bronco off-roader had a dismal opening three months—sales were down 26 percent, with Ford moving 24,066 Broncos. Meanwhile, Jeep shifted 38,308 Wranglers, up 1 percent over the first quarter of 2023. Sales of the Bronco during the full 2023 calendar year were also down by 10 percent, suggesting waning interest for the boxy all-terrain SUV.

It’s over in my opinion. When a dealer wants $28,000 to trade a 22 for an identically equipped 23 Wildtraks while other manufacturers are getting ready to introduce 25 models soon, I’m out. What they need to do is heavily subsidize leases as most people aren’t putting miles on them anyway. Switch over a 25 model year asap. Upgrade the OEM tires to something quieter and replace the 2.7 with the 3.0. Gas mileage already sucks so may as well power up while keeping the 2.3.

The local dealer has 12 Broncos all have a 2000 dollar discount from MSRP. Only one two door but has a slush box and is 63k. About 25 k too much.

I relooked at the Bronco pricing over the weekend. I think the $10K price jump across the board is a problem along with trim differentiation. Dropping the Base was an error IMO. Making the 12" TV screen was an error as dropping carpet for the rubber flooring. I don't see where the Black Diamond fits in the trim lines anymore.

The only trim that really stands out is the Heritage. It's the best deal now.

I think where Ford is not understanding is there still is a market for an entry-level ORV it can still grab from Jeep. Dropping the Base Squatch was not the right decision. Ford needs to up the trail content and decontent the foo-foo stuff. The HOSS 3.0 rack needs to be in the Base level with both lockers.

Drop the higher trims, offer stick with the 2.7tt, create a 2dr Raptor and start slashing prices.
Also recreate the base as a barebones trim with rollup windows and normal radio instead of a touch screen

Black Diamond would have worked had it not been Sascrotch for all and Badlands being right above it. Only reason Badass isnt screwed up by Wildchild is due to the 2.3/stick, otherwise that too would be cannibalized

Same here

I wanted cheap and as basic as it gets no carpet etc because it's going to get muddy, but want skid plates and a winch.
Where jeep shines is the V6 with a manual box.

The Broncos competition is the Wrangler. You can get a Wrangler Sport with roll up windows and no real creature comforts. That Wrangler Sport will also not have lockers or any off-road added capabilities.

If Ford were to add the items I bolded in your response it would add serious cost to a base version. There is no way Ford could add these and stay completive against a base Wrangler Sport pricing..

Don't get me wrong, Ford needs to address it's model levels and pricing to stay competitive against the Wrangler but I don't see how they could accomplish that by adding lockers etc to a base version.

The Base Bronco with SAS at 2021 pricing was the best value off roader on the market. You can’t create a long lasting culture if the price of entry isn’t attainable to younger generations.

I can drive over to my son’s highschool and find 20+ shit box wranglers any given day of the week (and some pretty nice ones). It will be years before I see a Bronco makes its way to “teenager’s first car” territory.

Same thing happened to truck culture. When I was in high school (93-97), 1 out of 10 vehicles driven by teens was a truck. Now? Maybe 1 out of 100. Only daddy can afford used car prices on F-150s.

Because people dont want all the electronic crap in modern vehicles and are buying up classics in bulk

It truly is a goddamn shame

Wheres the Na barebones Bronco? I like the potential of the 2.3 once the ecu’s cracked, but prefer simplicity over all the gizmos and gadgets

Jeep might not be as refined, but they know what the base truly wants and can afford to discount whereas Furd with their EV White Elephants cant

I disagree. A locking diff vs. an open diff at production cost is hardly any cost difference. If Ford has a better rack now, just use it across the board.

The Sasquatch package is ridiculously expensive now.

I assume you can share the Fords pricing for the front and rear lockers vs their pricing for the non locker options. I also assume you have Ford pricing for the Hoss 3 steering rack and what the cost would be to add it to every vehicle produced..

Something official re: the prices would be great.

I spent 15 years of my career as a manufacturing engineer, so I do have knowledge on the subject of part manufacturing. However, of course I don't have direct information regarding Ford's part costs, as it is proprietary information and I don't work for Ford's drivetrain supplier. And if I did work for Ford's supplier I couldn't publish the information regardless.

But nice try.

Wait a second, I thought rumor had it that Ford went to Jeep owners to get their opinions on what they would want in a vehicle.

Should've just asked previous Bronco owners about what they wanted!

You are claiming that front and rear lockers along with an upgraded steering rack would be a minimal, if any at all, cost adds for Ford. I am not buying that for one second. I asked you to provide more info / proof and this is your response??
