Currently own automatics, but will soon be in the market for a small pickup with a manual to prep for grandson’s 16th (18 months from now)… As stated elsewhere here its great to know how to drive a manual, and is an almost guaranteed “non-steal-able” car for a young driver.

I love the feel and fun of the manual in the semi-rural area I live in. If I were driving into the big city often it would be an automatic only for me, as I can but don;t want to concentrate on the gear I’m in when navigating among the thousands of crazies out there…

While not as romantic as driving a V-8 with a manual, today’s automatics are pretty amazing, and the EcoBoost gives one the best of all worlds, with the possible exception on less low, low end….

With today‘s engines, transmissions, and onboard computers working in unison there is a lot that can be “tuned” for specific applications and needs… We could start a whole new thread on how well computers shift transmissions vs. human beans (sp), but it’s Friday…

Have a great weekend all!

Non steal-able and Can't text and drive kinda' ride ..
In last five years we taught not one but both our under 23 year old kid-dults .. Best thing ever!

Plus kids get fun bragging rights as well .. as for us -- None of their peers -- heck peers parents or teachers can drive a manual.. Have fun!

You can bet your sweet Bippie
F is listening! That's why they don't make as many cars and trucks with manual transmissions in them any more. Almost nobody wants them. So long as we are here let's make the argument for the horse and buggy, after all they where much better than a automatic!

While in Iceland, we rented a Dacia Duster for 3 days https://www.dacia.co.uk/vehicles/duster.html. It had a small diesel engine with a 6 speed manual. It had been awhile since I had driven a manual but its pretty much like riding a bicycle and picked it back up pretty quickly. I will say the diesel and manual combo was a big surprise. I loved it.

Although once I got in some city stop and go traffic, I remembered why I like my auto so much. 😆 Would having a manual be a deal breaker for me as a daily driver, no but the auto is so much more enjoyable when you hit some traffic.

What's interesting is the gladiator is losing the manual. Maybe this is a supply issue move?

Either I'd get an Old Daddiator, or I'm sticking with the

Anyone remember the SVT? Ford had no issues producing 2000 or so specialty cars, so what the problem now?
Just because some people on a consumer forum don't know how to drive doesn't mean enthusiasts don't.
I want to hear from Ford not a bunch of anti manual / V-8 pe.

I don't even need a Coyote, make a custom pushrod V8 big enough to fit comfortably or a LSx. It's not even about the HP and Tq, it's the powerband, sound and longevity I'm after at this point

But Jeep offers it and people buy it. If Ford offered it they wouldn't?

As I said, I'd be driving a V6 Manual if Ford offered it with the Bronco. Feel they only did 2.3 manual to ensure it'd sell, as who'd really want the 4 over the 6 if both were availabe

I can count on my hand the amount of people in my circle who could drive my car without issue.

I also remember when all the cool cars were manual only, you had to learn if you wanted to drive a Viper someday

Very few friends and some family can drive a stick shift that I know ..

I was raised a bit different ...by Jamaican parents ..
There was no car if it wasn't a "stick shift" .. I learned REAL QUICK .. and yep got a brand new Honda .. that was stick shift...

Funny enough -- learned on a old beat up Ford Ranger .. was Blue .. It back fired had zero power steering .. But I drove that joker with all my life -- actually loved it!

I see you still have that B6G PTSD. Mods here aren't bad at all. Hell I've gotten away with way more than I could back over there.

With that said, I still stand by my choice, don't care about a manual, been there done that, but dammit Ford, give us our V8. Hell, I'd probably take a good old TTB over IFS as well. But that's just me. The rest of you can continue your arguments.

Just noticed a few innocuous memes gone missing is all. 6g's are infinitely worse

I want both an 8 and a stick, I grew up in the wrong era considering there are a small handful of vehicles left you can get new with manual at this rate vs back then when you had Bronco's

Fair -- what's offensive to one may be innocuous to another. Those removals will always have to be a personal judgment call for that reason (or an answer to a complaint).

I know our mods are not in this for fun; it's not a glorious or even desirable position. It's one filled by people who want a welcoming community, even if that means a more tame one. And then sometimes, they pick up pushback and attacks for trying to make it a great spot for the majority. It's a thankless role, and they do a great job.

ETA: and I didn't see anyone going after people specifically, I'm just in a PSA mood about them working hard for nothing and that I appreciate them for it.

The problem us consumers don't want enthusiasts to have they want, they want everyone to have the same thing. No choice no individuality. They have a word for that.

And so, Ford made the Bronco admittedly MUCH more accessorizable than any other SUV other than possibly the Jeep… Manufacturers build vehicles according to market, making them easily modifiable should please “enthusiasts” rather than piss them off…
