IAG 4 Door Running Boards

Has anyone else added these to their 4 door? IF so are they rusting? I have had mine on for about 5-6 months, unfortunately I travel a lot so don't drive as much as I would like, only have 3500 miles on it and the boards are rusted real bad. Basically every weld spot, every bend is rusting, they look absolutely terrible.

My exact sentiments. The AR full length rails were my first choice but are pricey

I went with the Archtype Racing Magnums for my 2 door. Not cheap but worth every penny. Really well designed and built.

Appreciate that, Tim. I was working with Kathy before and will say she has been great. She just got back to me this morning and they are working to do anything they can to support. Great company to work with and great customer service. They just have some quality issues they need to get contained. Kathy did mention they were outsourcing the powder coating but are working to bring it in house for more control over the quality. I did hear they once again revamped the design of the steps.

This still looks way better than what I see coming out of Rust Country. Hope they do the right thing and replace them.

As an update, Kathy and the IAG team did send me a new and updated set of steps to try out. Again, their customer service has been fantastic. I received the new set but didn't even get them out of the box, as when I uninstalled the old steps from the Bronco I noticed the underside and mounting hardware areas were also beginning to chip and rust. As mentioned, the IAG team have since worked to improve and bring in-house the powder coating process, which seems to be the weak point of these steps, or was. In addition, the step plates are not riveted to the frame instead of welded.

Once I saw the chipping and rust underneath the old steps I decided I didn't want to try out the new ones, even though IAG has worked to improve them. I have moved on and ordered a set of the Archetype STIRRUPS, which I know will never rust. Look forward to getting them installed when they arrive.

They're honestly probably fine but I was torn between the two steps in the beginning. I went with the AR STIRRUPS instead cause I know the quality of the products well, and I know I won't have to worry about them in the long run.

Good choice on going with the stirrups, you won't be disappointed. My only do over would be to get the full length steps. Did you get the large discount for being a member of "the other forum"?

So in regards to my IAG full length EZ steps: since I received the second set with similar chipping and flaking issues, Kathy sent me a large can of Rust-Oleum spray truck bed liner. I sanded and cleaned the bad areas, and then applied two coats of the paint to the areas in question, followed by two complete coats to finish. I let them cure for about a week and reinstalled. It has been about a month and I have driven and been in a lot of rain in Arizona, California and Oregon and driven about 1500 miles. So far so good and zero issues. Fingers crossed. As an added bonus I received a free set of the IAG interior dome lights and they are excellent. The AR steps are a superior remedy and aside from price were my first choice.

I honestly can't wait to get them installed now. Not the cheapest, but as with all things you get what you pay for, I suppose. I did get the discount but appreciate the shout! Definitely a big savings there.

It's unfortunate because I really do like the look and style of the IAG EZ-Steps. Again, their customer service is top notch and I know they are working really hard to "reel in" the quality issues.

Sounds like your boards are holding up nicely. Both of the sets I tried rusted out within 500 miles, and they didn't even see road salt. Maybe the rain here in NE Ohio is just that much more harsh 😉

Free bonus is always nice! I didn't know IAG had a dome light kit. Looks like a great product. There were a couple of times I could have used more light in the cabin.

I just installed these on mine. Now I'm nervous about them. People talk about the price point I didn't think they were that cheap. I paid almost $600 for mine. Are these different ones?

Looks great man, but truthfully, you shouldn't have to do this. Unless someone is driving Dakar every weekend, these aftermarket items should be lasting way more than one year. It's embarrassing.

These are quite a bit more expensive, but will never rust nor require sanding, painting, etc. over the life: https://archetyperacing.com/products/ar-magnum-stirrup?variant=42933951037653

Like I said somewhere in some thread, the Archetype Racing were my first choice. and for me the problems I was having was with the flaking in certain spots and crappy packaging. So I came to an agreement with IAG that I was satisfied with and I did some sanding, painting, and will see how they do. I can still return them also down the road if the rust starts. I may end up with the AR ones down the road anyways.

I contacted them, they shipped me a new pair since I was in the timing on the bad ones.
I got them, took them out switched my old pair into the box and sent them back.
Took the new pair over to Line-X and had them done, no problem going forward.
