Didn‘t see a thread for this, thought it was a good idea. I’ll start.

I remember when I was a kid I watched as grown men were dumping oil down into the sewers. We always tend to do stupid things.
Truly, but we can all learn…

If it went into a sewer it was going to the treatment plant to be processed so it didn't matter much. However if it went into a storm drain it was a different story, they drain into rivers and water ways directly.

It was in fact a storm drain. Years later the city painted above the drains: do not dump, flows into the bay. Fortunately people and businesses have really cleaned up their acts and the SF Bay and the creeks feeding into it have bounced back. The bottom line is we all have to be responsible.

Agree…. People used to dump trash in sink holes back then as well. Guess we all learned a lot.

🐎

The population and the number of ICE vehicles was smaller, so yes, the Earth could deal with that and heal itself. But we're billions more people and millions more cars. Think of what the logistical problem will be as EVs are retired? I wonder if people will be trucking their dead EV bricks into the hinterland to simply abandon and avoid the required EV disposal fees?

While we're on the subject, my first off-roading was a summer job in the Sonora desert with a minerals research outfit--1965! We drove across and over everything, didn't care, and simply chucked our trash out the window. There were plenty of abandoned fire pits and campsites with discarded rusty cans, chicken bones, and broken bleached glass. Even the desert "healed" itself by decaying these things. Now desert (and beach) glass is sought after and turned into jewelry! But that can't continue nowadays. Too many people (like us with Broncos) have access to the hinterland, and all that new (and unenlightened) traffic) would have a deleterious effect on the landscape.

The rules have changed. So stick to the trails. Pack in, pack out.

Too bad the companies that were supposed to deal with toxic waste and pesticides just dumped them a short distance of the S.F. and L.A. coasts still creating fall out to this day.

Exactly, although companies across the planet have done the same… “out of sight, out of mind” has been the mantra for 100 years…

Just think how bad its going to be with unscrupulous radioactive waste handlers dumping hot material willy nilly all over the place.

Fluids are one of the best ways to address hunger pangs… that this has some sugar will also help with the real or imagined hypoglycemia. 🤷‍♂️ 😂

Unfortunately, the unscrupulous will also be around with those who do the right thing. I remember some years back when CONEX boxes with non-solid toxic waste started showing up in some countries labeled as “recyclable material”… kinda sucks to be at the receiving end of stuff like that.
