I have had several EB's, or Gen1's in my day, I just love the way they look. Being in Knoxville and seeing all the super celebration rides show up has my juices flowing! Anyway, my wife and I have quadruplets who are all going off to college this fall. I want to get a Gen6 this summer so the wife and I can do some overlanding once we are empty nesters. (so weird to think about!) This is my question. Are there any 2 door guys who regret not getting a bigger ride? I am mainly concerned with storage behind the rear seats. I really want a 2 door, but I do fear the lack of storage. I intend to get a roof rack and put a clam-shell tent of some kind up there, so that might limit up-top storage also. Anyway, just thinking through some stuff, thought I'd ask the brain trust for your $.02
Thanks, as always!

I preordered a 2022 basic "baby" Bronco, because I had a minimalist mindset and I enjoyed the aesthetic of them. My plan was to remove the two rear seats to provide more room for storage and such. It would also help me weasel my way out of carpooling. I did get my Bronco quickly because of the trim and simplicity of what I desired, but after a while it did become annoying that I could not have all my buddies pile in the wagon for a ride. Even if I left the rear seats in, the space behind the front seats is basically reserved for children and the wee folk, I am 6'3.5" tall.

When I had the opportunity earlier this year to trade in my baby bronco for a four door Big Bend Bronco, I made that handshake! More room for me and four peeps, and I can carry more in the back. Also, it looks sleeker with four doors and I cannot complain about its handling.

Alas, it is all about what you are looking for. I get a lot of people stealing glances at my 2024 "mama" Bronco and I am loving it!

I am 6' 1" and can fit in the rear seats of the 2dr just fine.. Would I want to take a cross country trip back there? Nope, but not sure why your friends can't fit.. Are all your friends NBA players?

There's a decent amount of space in the two-door, especially for two people. Our very first trip was with four people over five days. Can you bring everything you think you need? No. Can you bring everything you probably actually need? Yes. If you are bringing camping gear, you're gonna need to utilize the backseat area, either folding down the seats or putting stuff on them. If you bring a lot of stuff, the two-door may not work for you.

We fairly regularly have people in the back seats, and I've been in the back on road trips as much as the front. There's plenty of room (I'm 6') and the seats are comfortable, so I wouldn't worry if you sometimes have more than two people. The only actual drawback is that the gas tank is smaller, so we have to stop for gas where we wouldn't have needed to when driving more fuel-efficient (but less off-road capable) vehicles. If the two-door was six inches longer without compromising the look, it would be practically perfect because we'd presumably have that much more storage and a bigger tank. But I'll take the lower price, tighter turning radius, and better looks for the win. 😀

I think one of the main reasons Ford brought the Bronco back was BECAUSE Jeep now offers the Wrangler in a 4-door. I'd bet Ford's market analysis showed the Bronco line was viable only if a 4-door was put in the mix. It's not the 1960's anymore. The costs to be in compliance with DOT regs means the product investment needs to be spread over as many unit sales as possible. In the 1960's a manufacturer could just put corporate bin parts in any chassis they dreamed up that had headlights and tail lights.

We should feel lucky (sadly) the Government even allows Ford (or Jeep) to make a vehicle that has removable doors and a roof.

Two-door owner and lover here. Your comments are spot-on. The Bronco died as a two-door without enough sales. From its death was born the Expedition, which was a next-gen four-door Bronco by another name. It's clear reading comments in posts like these that a lot of people have FOMO and go with a four-door to be safe. They imagine they need the space and worry about being disappointed if they go two-door and regret not having the space. But it works like buying a house. Rarely does one admit he bought more house than he/she needed. Instead, they just go about filling the bigger house with more stuff.

Then when Jeep came out with the 4dr version a lot of people scoffed at them as they were not real Wranglers..

One issue with the two-door Wrangler is that it is just plain small. Four of us rented one for off-roading, and I would not want to be kept in the back for longer than a trip to a local restaurant. The two-door Bronco is vastly more roomy, both in width and leg room. The back seat area compares to the back seat of a four-door Wrangler. I would recommend a two-door Wrangler only to someone who never would have anyone in the back seat, whereas a two-door Bronco is perfectly fine, assuming said backseat passengers are physically capable of getting in. We had a bit of fun helping a septuagenarian get in the back of my two-door Badlands, though I think the step-in height was as much a difficulty as the body origami required. 😀

Just picked up my 2dr Black Diamond, loving it! Intentionally bought it so that no one bothers me about giving them a ride, if I don`t want to, "no room sorry". With that being said, I like the look of it over the More Door and the only issue (not really a regret) is that I road trip with a couple of buddies and the three of us and our gear just won`t fit comfortably. I am looking to pick up a second Bronco in four years or so and may buy a 4dr just for the extra room afforded a third person. As a side bar, my present BD is a 7spd, the future one might (a big might!) have an auto tranny just because I would want the 2.7 for the extra weight. I will see if I can find a 7spd 4dr to test drive and see how it handles/operates, compared to mine.
Again, very happy with my 2dr!

Times change..

When AMC sold to Chrysler and they came out with the YJ, CJ owners hated them. a) they were not AMC and b) they had square headlights.. Then when Jeep came out with the 4dr version a lot of people scoffed at them as they were not real Wranglers..

Ford had a lot of time to learn from Jeep sales as in what sold and what didn't.. I am not surprised that 4dr Broncos are more abundant as the same goes for Wranglers..

When I decided to get another 4x4 I knew it was going to be a 2dr and it was not even up for debate or reconsideration. Being a long time Jeep CJ/Wrangler person (I've had several since the early 80"s) I considered a Jeep Rubicon 2dr and the Bronco Badlands 2dr.

I've always loved the 1st gen Bronco's (the rest, not so much) so when I saw the 6G I was pumped and wanted it..

I did not feel like ordering and waiting months or years so I decided to find one on a dealer lot that met most of what I wanted. My search area was the entire USA as I could have flown out and drove back with whatever I purchased.

Dealer lots, both Ford and Jeep, had plenty of 4dr's available. Some that had everything I wanted (expect they were 4dr's) but finding a 2dr that I wanted was a struggle.

I wanted, and would not budge, off of a Rubicon or a Badlands and it 100% had to be a 2dr..

I am single and don't need the extra space a 4dr offers. I can however understand why a married couple with 2 kids would want a 4dr instead of a 2dr...

I don't generally do fanboy wars and think the 4dr's are just as sweet as the 2dr's.. Me? I am a 2dr person but won't hate on the 4dr's either.. Heck I still love Jeeps and you won't see me bashing them either.

Same with my old 87 YJ.. CJ owners hate it but I loved that thing as it took me plenty of places and I have nothing but great memories with it...

TLDR: Get what you want/need and enjoy it!

Well said! I had a YJ and it rode like a cinder block on a skateboard, but I loved it! I had planned to buy a Jeep when I retired (this January). Until I saw the `21 Bronco! I knew that I wanted one when I retired. I never got in one until the 2024 Auto Show in Chicago, and that was just to test fit myself, not even a test drive. I ordered in FEB, was told 60 days, got it in 59 days! I like it WAY better than I thought that I would! This thing is all that and a bag of chips!
Not beating the Jeep up, but I find that the Bronco just feels roomier, rides and handles better with a better feel vs the Jeep. The Bronco shift pattern feels as good as my sister`s 2019 VW GLI 6spd, nice and tight on the throws. The only thing that I wish I could get, would be a 3.0 with a 7spd in a NON-Raptor (possible non-SAS if available-a killer sleeper) Black Diamond or Badlands package. Too bad that is not an option.

Having owned and lived an EB (my first car), I was very cognizant of the 2 vs 4dr pros and cons when ordering my Bronco…
The amount of room and space behind the second seat is considerable, and having four doors for grandkids is a no-brainer for us…
IF I were to buy a second Bronco, it would very possibly be a 2-door just for fun… That being said, we have an amazing amount of fun in our four door, and have never regretted having the larger model.

I don't think so, Jeep didn't introduce the 4 door until 2006. 2 years AFTER Ford made their concept Bronco public, which means it was in the works years before the public knew about it AND on top of it , it was a 2 door.No 4 door was mentioned.

Ahh the old two door vs. four door question...

My wife and I bought the two door because we liked the looks more, and the kids are all out of the house, so no real need to tote others around. Having said that, we were pressed for space on our Moab trip. Three Milwaukee Packouts full of gear, and two suitcases just about filled it up. We made it work though, and haven't ever regretted getting a two door since we've owned it. Unless you're a hardcore offroader, most wheelbase differences won't be noticed, and certainly the ride between the two won't amount to much of a noticeable difference either.

Both the two and four door variants look great. Get what you think looks better, and you'll be happy with your purchase either way.

Now when it comes to color, we all know what looks best. 😉

Selling our Mustang is out of the question though! Don't fall for it Tim!
