Anyone been to both Moab and Nevada Off-Roadeos? Trying to decide which one to attend this spring. All insight is appreciated. Thank you.

I've been to Moab multiple times, and grew up about 20-30 minutes from the Nevada location.

Moab one of two iconic off-roading locations in this country (the other being Rubicon Trail), so you really can't go wrong there. The only downside is that it's out in the middle of no where, so if you are looking to do something before and/or after Off-Roadeo... there isn't a whole lot of amenities. You'll have to come up with your own entertainment—whether that be hiking/biking/camping/off-roading/whatever.

The Nevada location is near Vegas and obviously you have everything Vegas has to offer. Restaurants, shows, casinos, etc.

So depends on what you want to do. If you are driving and want to turn it into a longer vacation, I'd personally do the Moab location if you can. Moab itself can get busy at times—particularly in the spring—but there are lots of forests/national parks in Utah and just over the state border in Colorado to explore. Telluride, Zion National Park, Glenn Canyon, etc. If you are flying in and/or looking to do a quick 2-3 day trip max, then I'd Vegas.

---

In terms of the Off-Roadeo specifically, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's roughly the same program at every location, just adjusted slightly for the terrain specific to that location. And every location has awesome guides.

My question is, are you able to go to different Off-Roadeos once you've been to one? That would be awesome!
I can only speak for Moab, that is the one I went too last February, and it greatly exceeded my expectations. But as was said already, whatever location you choose you will not be disappointed, I have yet to hear of anyone who regretted it regardless of the location they chose.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you could pay to do the off-rodeo, in which case you could go to which ever one(s) you want.

OP: I went to Moab. And while it is an AMAZING location, what I gained in know-how and confidence is what it's really all about. Finding out that being tipped at 22 degrees will not necessarily roll you over, now that's information you can take where you go... and you get to test those physics in not-your Bronco :D

Which every place you choose for Off-Rodeo, take those skills and plan a trip to the other spot, and then to the other spot... and then to the next, and the next.

The last I checked, it's only one Off-rodeo per VIN. I've asked about attending a second one, and was told "not yet".

@JoergH is right, for now, it's once per VIN, with the exception of Texas 4xFun, which anyone can pay for and go to, but it's a shortened day (4 hours vs. the 8 of the owner experience).

Hitting the moab off-roadeo in mid March. Moab is an amazing place. Plus while you're there you can swing by Canyon Lands and Arches, two additional amazing places.

Hey Michiwoo,
since the mountains are calling, you definitely should go to Moab. I did a lot of research into the two, and the Moab terrain, let alone the scenery is considerably better than Nevada. Go to Moab, you will learn a ton about your Bronco, you will leave considerably more confident in your Bronco, and most importantly, you will leave with a big smile!

I have been to the Off-Roadeo at both locations and here are my two cents.

Mt Potosi: It was a much larger group (16 broncos total that split into two groups of 8) but the guides were far more helpful and gave very clear directions and were great at teaching the passenger skills as well-such as picking lines, using hand motions and well as "driver/passenger" directions rather than left/right. It was a lot more rock crawling type terrain. It is held at the location of an old Boy Scout camp so they do have bathrooms throughout the trails, but there are only 5 or so trails that you keep riding all day long hitting different obstacles. They did a good demonstration of staybar disconnect, trail turn assist, and hero button functions. They have a customer demonstrate each thing in real time on the trail-everyone exits their bronco, learns, watches the demonstration, etc.

Moab: Moab is beautiful red rocks and picturesque. The day I went, the entire Off-Roadeo consisted of 6 Broncos. The trails you ride are public and about 20 minutes from the Off-Roadeo location so you take a paved road to get there. Once you leave the Off-Roadeo building there are no bathrooms for the entire day so it's pack in/out waste. The guides on my day were nice, but not necessarily helpful in teaching how to drive offroad. I had no demonstrations on hero switches, how to pick a line, how to help guide the driver, etc. They did a better job of "recovery" training because you attempt to climb a large sand hill and then get to use recovery boards.

Overall, Nevada was much more informative as far as "teaching" but if you're already familiar with off-road driving, Moab is more beautiful.

I thought the folks in Moab were pretty decent with the training. I did ask 10,000 questions, though? Don't wait around hoping they are going to cover the things you need help with.

When I don't know what to ask about, I ask, "When it comes to off-roading, what do I need to know about ____________?" Just about anything related to off-roading can go in that blank. Tires, brakes, rocks, streams, gears, diffs, these switches and buttons, driving up steep hills at an angle, rolling over, getting stuck in the middle of nowhere, the number one danger!... the list is inexhaustible, and it leads to more conversation and understanding.

They give you a radio, and there's ample quiet time, so you can ask questions as they come up while you're driving.

And when you run out of questions, congrats! you now know everything there is to know.

Thanks so much for posting this useful information. My wife and I are flying out to Vegas this Spring, and have the opportunity to do either the Vegas off-roadeo or the Moab off-roadeo, as we will be by both during our trip. She is particularly concerned about access to bathrooms.

Are the days broken into an afternoon and evening session with access to bathroom in the middle at Moab or no?

Is there any other recommendation you might have about either?

Generally we are both outdoorsy people, but she draws the line with bathroom access.

Thanks, we really are looking forward to our trip.

We did Moab OffRodeo last May… NO bathroom access during the actual OffRodeo once you’re in the Broncos… For me, with a very small bladder, the busy-ness of the day and all kept my mind busy enough that I didn’t need a bathroom all day… but be warned… of course there is plentry of scrub and bushes to hide behind, and staff will be carrying doodie bags… (carry in, carry out is the law)…

I hate to be this guy, but that's REALLY going to limit your trail runs. Most of the fun runs I've been on are at least a full day affair, and often there's no bathrooms anywhere in sight. My wife was also VERY concerned about that in the beginning, so I bought her a foldable "potty", as well as a popup privacy tent. She used them a few times, but eventually, she got used to going au-natural.

Yeah, the hope is for baby steps. If I can get her to enjoy herself and not have an issue with these things, we can go more.

Sort of off topic. Does anyone have the names of the trails used for the Moab Offroadeo? I may be in the area in April and I thought it would be fun to at least drive the trails they use. They’re on public lands, right?

I did Nevada Offroadeo as part of a weeklong Vegas trip. We went kayaking, sightseeing, and all the typical Vegas things. So it was an action packed week.

You're right, they are on public lands. @Melissa Clark was on a scouting trip for some new ones not too long ago if I remember correctly.

Dome Plateau. At least that's what they used when I went back in '21, and I don't think it's changed.
