The v6 eco boost is pretty sweet but I really like the idea of not having twin turbos to maintain and a manual.

Throw in an aluminum body and I think we would see 2021 Broncos on and off the road for decades.

One can dream...

If anyone swaps a 5.0 in they are wasting their time. The 7 speed is also having a version made to fit the 7.3 and they are already making a blower for it. SO if you v8 swap a bronco. Make it a 700 (not so)big block 7.3 with a stick. Better spring for some Dana 60s.

The 5.0 is way too wide and if your talk about "leveling the playing field" and adding turbos to it. Where will they go in a already stuffed engine bay?

The 2.7 is a great place to start for a hotrodder. Tune it, match the stock v8s. Change the turbos(kits available) beat the NA v8s with bolt ons. Beyond that swap up to the 3.0 or the 7.3. Id say the 3.5 but it too is wide as a boat.

Personally for me I would never do anything beyond a blower to a 5.0 coyote way to complex to be messing with reliability. I prefer a 351 with AirGap, AFR head, maybe a forged stroker, and a custom cam, and a 850 mighty demon carb. Make an easy 600hp in a small package.

The ford cammer motors are great engines mostly in the mustangs though.

Waste time? There isn't a car guy that is a stranger to wasting time. Coyote in Bronco is going to happen.Ford might not do it, but the aftermarket will.

I used turbos in my example, the point remains the same, a 2.7 can only make so much power, a 5.0 given the same amount of volumetric efficiency will make more power than the 2.7.
Like climbing Everest, putting a Coyote in a Bronco? because its there.Maybe call it a Broncoy like the old days of putting sbc's in FJs and calling them Toylets.

I think his point is that if you’re going through the trouble of a V8 swap might as well drop in the 7.3 liter. And while yes, there will 100% be shops that do V8 swaps I do not think they will be nearly as common as they are for Wrangler. And expect to pay $25k+. The only reason the wrangler swaps are common is because the current options are so terrible.

I should specify too. If you are indeed dropping in a V8 the only way to make it worthwhile is if you’re doing a blower and pushing 600+ horsepower. Which means you’re going to need all new running gear, axles, possibly t-case, driveshafts, etc. so in reality if you want a V8 Bronco expect to spend at least $10k more on top of the swap to have it be actually usable. So you’re talking about probably $100k total into your bronco... and for $100k you could probably build a way more capable buggy or actual pre runner.

The other issue is USABLE power. A 2.7 can make 550hp and 550lbft easily and safely. Idk how much more you really need in a midsized suv. Your not going to get any more performance out of a 5.0. Even if you slap a blower on it and get 700+ hp. It’s not going to be any faster or more capable than a 550hp 2.7.

unless your really chop it down throw in a 2.7 rear end and lighten the truck up a lot.

I get it. “Save the v8s” but at some point you have to look at it subjective.

yes people will swap v8s. But the question at the end of the day is why.

My hopes are essentially crushed now but then again I never wanted a 5.0 for anything other than symplicity and cool Factor.

If and when I get a Bronco I don't think a day will ever come when I say hey guys check this out...and pop the hood.

I get that but it’s better to set your expectations right. Expecting a humongous DOHC V8 in a compact SUV is just not realistic. There’s a lot more exciting stuff for the Bronco than powertrain... trust me based on a few whispers I’ve heard nobody is going to care about no V8.

You’ll be too busy actually driving it :)

If I had that kind of coin to dump into a Bronco, I'd be looking at something like this.

Yep thats pretty much it. Anybody slapping 100k down on a bronco, better have a 800hp 7.3, one ton portal axles while still retaining the active terrain GOAT system that we dont even understand yet. If you just put in a 500hp coyote and dont upgrade other things and still have spent 75k then there will be an awards ceremony for you outside the local JCPenny's.

This isn’t “internet advice” this is setting realistic expectations so that you aren’t disappointed hoping for a pie in the sky.

Give it time it will happen.I have an advantage because I can build everything I need.Been doing engine swaps since the 70s.

Only way I'm buying a new Bronco is if it has a V8. Same with the Raptor. A V8 Raptor Version of the Bronco is my dream.
Looks like you’ll be buying a Jeep, oh wait no V8 there either. So what do I do?

Like others said, it's insane how much would have to he done just to have the bragging rights of saying you own a V8 at the mall, I was never planning on getting a V8 I have the 5.4 in my f-150 and I do all my own maintenance... It's a nightmare. There about zero reason to get a V8 in a small midsize off-road vehicle, I mean at least jeep people are putting hellcats v8

There will be custom V8 swapped broncos but they will be 800+ horsepower and you’re going to be spending well over $100k all together between the bronco itself, the mods, and everything else to make it worthwhile. Swapping a regular coyote into a Bronco would be an enormous waste of time and money.

few bolt ons (intake exhaust Intercooler) tune will get the 2.7 up close to crank 500hp 600lbft. All for maybe $3000

then add something like small turbo increase, injector and fuel pump.
($5000) and you’ll be running 650hp 800lbft all day long!

you can keep your v8!
