The v6 eco boost is pretty sweet but I really like the idea of not having twin turbos to maintain and a manual.

Throw in an aluminum body and I think we would see 2021 Broncos on and off the road for decades.

One can dream...

highly recommend running injector cleaner and 91/93 every oil change to help keep the turbo clean. And keep the car running for a few seconds after driving to let the oil calm down.

Agreed on letting it run for a few. I've had Greddy Turbo Timers in the past. Worked well ...

I have grown up with the preached mentality of “there is no replacement for displacement “ nodding to the gains of larger engines...I am open to fuel efficiency and more efficient power gains with smaller motors due to technological advances...performance trumps “coolness” because performance creates “coolness” so My mind gravitates towards performance from a practical standpoint...I’m sure someone somewhere will drop a V8 in a new bronco at some point...it will not take long...until then I will enjoy watching the new bronco be tested from every angle to find out where the next improvement will come from...who knows what the 2025 Bronco may be like? It could be seriously awesome by then...

Only way I'm buying a new Bronco is if it has a V8. Same with the Raptor. A V8 Raptor Version of the Bronco is my dream.

No replacement for Displacement - Bentley 1928...... I think forced induction has come a little ways since 1928.

but I imagine a v8 swap (5.0/ 7.3/ 6.2/ 5.2) will happen within months of launch

Lol I agree but Torque over Horsepower for me in the off-road department...forced induction is for the track and highway where you can get the rpms up....low to mid range torque gains has been easier and cheaper to achieve through bore and stroke....so far...and a turboed 5L is better than a turboed 3L in my book...but to each there own...

Is there separate maintenance required for the ecoboosts? I have had 3 turbo cars (1 from a swap, two stock) and only did the usual maintenance (oil change, spark plugs, air filters, etc.).
I'm not a mechanic but I would switch to synthetic after the break-in and then go full synthetic on 5000 mile intervals I never go later because of turbos.

and a 7.3 would be even better. all about that stroke length. my next goal is to hit a 4.5"^2 bore-stroke. my current engine is almost square, 4.44 bore and 4.15 stroke. (really can't go over 4.44 bore on a 460 though...)

Btw here are the HP and torque curves of a few the ford motors.

2.3 from Ranger
2.7 from F150
3.0PS from F150
5.0 from F150

likely only the 2.3 and 2.7 will make it to production

here's my issue with all these TTB numbers.

WTH are they below 2k RPM? where's the numbers at 700-1500 RPM, i.e. idle and off idle? That is a very important number for a lifted truck, and the reason why displacement w/ long strokes is so proffered.

and what is up with the 3.0 tq numbers? they fell off a cliff, at the start...I've seen lemmings with a better glide pattern.

most dynos don’t register sub 2000 rpm. That’s why. But these are all turbo motors excluding the 5.0
There is little torque before 2000rpm because of lag.

and yes the 3.0 power stroke torque is all low end. After 3000rpm the torque falls off FAST! Gotta love eco Friendly diesels.

bullshit. cause every V8 shows power down to 1000 or less. these are fords numbers, and they don't want to show just how shitty the numbers are before the turbo kicks in.

I’d recommend looking at other options.

A V8 Bronco is 99.99% not happening so setting yourself up saying I won’t get it without that... you’re basically saying you won’t get it. Realistically xpecting a V8 in a mid size SUV in 2020 is setting yourself up for disappointment.

And maybe I’m wrong, but I’ll be super excited if I am. But everyone who is saying GOTTA HAVE A VEEE EIT you’re setting your expectations way way WAY too high and you’re going to ruin the Bronco for yourself. Just accept it won’t have one.

What was the number one thing that was better about the Bronco than the Jeep...V8

I mean really, what if Ford took the V8 out of the Mustang and how would that be any different.

I hope you're wrong and Ford actually cares about what customers want and not what's easy to sell by showing some slick numbers at the dealership.

the v6 turbo is a better set up tho. Lighter, more efficient and more low end torque. There is a very big reason why V8 F150 sales are down year over year. And the 2.7 is way up.

both Ecoboost engines are better than what Jeep is offering. And that’s the important thing.

like nick said. If your hoping for a v8. I’d look elsewhere. Because it’s not happening.
I’m very sure there will be plenty of V8 swaps done very soon after. plenty of 5.7 Hemi JLs already out there.

To all the people who want an eco boost engine...that’s fine...no problem...enjoy...I don’t blame you for wanting more power with more efficiency...no hate here...it’s good to have options...but let’s not pretend that a v8 can’t provide more power....consider what went into making the smaller engines comparable...and all of this debate should be remembered it still comes down to preference and thank God we live in a country where all these options are possible and at the end of the day you still own a bronco regardless of what’s inside or how you choose to drive it so everyone is a winner! And thanks to all for pointing out the benefits of each option so we all can choose what works for us...

never said a V8 wouldn’t be cool. It would be absolutely freaking amazing. What I’m SAYING is that a V8 is not going to happen unless you swap it so talking about the benefits of a V8 is pointless or saying you won’t buy a Bronco if it doesn’t have a V8 means you’re not buying a Bronco. So I’d recommend looking for elsewhere for your next vehicle or accept you are spending $20k on an engine swap.

Great I was just going to buy one but they're out of stock...haha I wish, that bad boy is 15k msrp before labor.

Kind of goes to show you the F-150 is a pretty good deal.

The Coyote swap will probably be covered by the aftermarket. The players already making swap kits for earlier Broncos will do it. The engine doesn't have to be expensive Jegs has different flavors of the Coyote.
I imagine buying a used one or one with a blown engine and swapping.
