Northwest Bronco

Jan 10, 2022

I was lucky enough to have an early reservation holder back out of his purchase. It happened to be my exact spec, so I purchased it from Newberg Ford in Oregon with no mark up. Thank you Casey! I've noticed nothing wrong with the vehicle. I've enjoyed every aspect of it. The tires do collect rocks. These will be replaced. I plan on turning this into an overland vehicle.

Follow along as I continue the build!

How did the sensor relocation go?
How did the sensor relocation go?
I did the auto start/stop thing first. I'm hoping my buddy shows up this weekend to do the sensor. I was thinking about just leaving the sensor where it's at, and buying another one (so I wouldn't have to take the winch and bumper off), but the best price I could find was $370.

How did the sensor relocation go?

It's a major job, including cutting into some parts. I'm having a speciality shop do it in April. It's alot more than just a few simple brackets. Anyone who wants a winch, DON'T get the lux package.

For the auto start/stop defeat, I bought a jumper harness, see https://www.autostopeliminator.com/collections/ford/products/2021-ford-bronco-autostop-eliminator

Finished installing the security drawer with Dometic fridge and slide. All these products are high quality and easy to install. The weight limit is only 50lbs for the top of the drawer. Trust me, this thing is heavy and will support WAY more than 50lbs. Next project will be the fold down tailgate table. This should be done today or tomorrow. More to come!

Thank you. The fold down tailgate table and security drawer are all Ford products. I recommend both. Solid items.

I took a long road trip on the highway and after experiencing the ACC I've decided to cancel the winch idea. There's just too much good working tech in the front of the Bronco. There's alot more than meets the eye in regards to relocating the ACC and it's a gamble if it's ever going to work as well as it does now. Not to mention the parking sensors and camera. I'm not going to mess with all this tech. It works too well.

Instead, I decided to run a full compliment of Maxtrax traction boards (4.) So, I ordered the ZROADZ roof rack and mounts for the boards. They will stack nicely on top and ready to use if neccessary. I'll post the additions when installed and give you my thoughts of the products.

Stay tuned!

Don’t give up on the winch so soon @B MIller
There are options for a portable winch or a hitch mounted winch for the rear. sure, each are compromise products but hey, how frequently are you gonna use it anyway?

I was thinkng the same thing. A take on / off mount that I can slide the winch into if needed. Love the idea.

I did the same thing, mounted a fridge slide to the top of the Tuffy Lock Box - my fridge is an Alpicool I got on Amazon, has worked great this last year plugged in at the garage.

For the slide I marked and used some riv-nuts (6) and bolted her down.

Power I went a different route, until a feasible dual battery bracket can be had, I purchased a small Jackery Explorer 240 (which can be bought now at Harbor Freight) - and put this in the middle. Fridge to Jackery, Jackery to Bronco. If I am not driving the Bronco for a couple days, I’ll just plug the jackery into an extension cord.

My build is a soft top, waiting for the roof rack from Gobi, then my tent and I’m living in the Bronco down by the river!

ARB Air Compressor (Only When Needed) Mount

I knew I didn't want to permanently attach an air compressor to my vehicle, so I picked up the portable one from ARB (comes in the plastic tool box.) It's a nice set up, but takes up too much room in the back of the bronco. I really wanted it to travel in my locking security drawer with all my other stuff. So I removed it from the box and looked for solutions to keep it up off the ground while in use. Then I remembered I had the BUILTRIGHT INDUSTRIES bronco license plate mount. Went to the hardware store and got all the nuts and bolts. Attached the compressor to the license plate plate and the mounting bracket to the front bumper. Worked perfectly!

Looks awesome! Throwing a tent on it?

Thank you sir. I put four maxtrax and four gallons of fuel on it. In regards to the tent, I had one on my old Toyota and I must say it's a cool idea. Buuuut it really changes the dynamics of the vehicle. Everything declined in regards to performance. It squeaked, MPG declined, wind noise, and lots of body roll on turns. I had it for about one month before selling it. Back to the ground tent.

If I had to recommend a tent that MAY work for the Bronco, I'd say a iKamper Mini simply because of the weight.
