So for those of you out there considering this intake i thought id give a honest review. Roush Intake Part # 422233
Price $400-450 depending where you buy it.
Installation $0-100 depending if you do it yourself or have it dealer installed

Actual out of pocket price for the intake and installation from my dealer $0. I used my Ford pass points and having it installed at the dealer includes it into my factory warranty.

I honestly don't feel or hear any difference 😅 My MPGs are slowly creeping upward but snail like. Would i purchase it again? If i had the ford pass points available, Yes. Paying out of pocket I think I would personally look into an actual Intake. This kit is just a air lid with a bulge to accommodate the bigger air filter. At $500 dollars installed I think that money could be spent elsewhere.

Hope this helps you guys out a bit.

An oiled K&N in the factory airbox is probably every bit as good as Roush's more expensive option.

Well damn, went to K&N's site after watching the video, they said clean filter @ 100k miles (with normal highway driving). That sounds crazy!

Looks like I got some thinking to do. Would be nice to gain some gas mileage from doing something like this. Only problem is, the various sites just mention hp & torque gains, nothing about MPG gains.

Works like this: Filters are pinch improvements, ya get what ya pay for (More sound, mile or two better, 1-3hp, no crazy gains but $50-80)

Intakes are nice, but are only really needed with a tune, otherwise just a waste of $$$. Still, the larger volume and better materials are nice, and with a tune, you can get some performance out of it.

Ex: I was told by JDM Engineering that for an '18 GT, a CAI, X-pipe and Tune would get you 500hp (Crank probably).

Modern ECU's are too smart and restrictive, the parameters won't vary too much from my understanding so while it'd eek out a few gains, won't get the full benefits without a tune to unlock everything

It's also the material, stock is paper, AM is Cotton. Difference between a light linen shirt in the summer vs your generic t-shirt when it comes to feeling a breeze

And that's why I call it a waste.

If you got skills, you can DIY the plexiglass window on your box and install an $80 KN Filter for significantly less $$$

For $400, I want this:

  1. oil vs dry
    1. oiled is cleanable and reusable filter.
    2. Dry is usually a paper one time use filter. Replace after so many miles.
  2. most will improve MPGs if you can resist driving with a heavy foot.
  3. the additional hoses replace the factory ones that could be more restrictive to the turbos. Smoother, faster airflow which equals better performance and power. Not necessarily cooler.
  4. Oiled filters are cleanable and usually last years if cared for properly.

I guess the biggest thing I didn't note in my post is this is a Bronco not a 5.0 Mustang. So high end horsepower and spinning the tires seems to be a silly thing or goal to be looking for on these upgrades. Its more about improved MPGs, Possible torque gains which would be a benefit OFF-ROAD. If someone was trying to build a FAST bronco they should be looking at replacing the intercooler, ALL Piping like Mushimoto offers and a proper intake plus a tune. For me it was free as i mentioned and i was hoping for a bit of throttle response which just wasn't there. I'm still happy with the product but i have no intentions on building a Race inspired bronco. I still have my other Bronco builds to concentrate on this is more my daily driver.
All this. I would add if you plan on off1-roading or even driving on dry dirt/gravel roads I would recommend having a stockpile of filters if you stick with a dry filter. I got 2 K&N wet filters so I can swap and hit the road while one is cleaning is drying after clean. I just happened to change my stock filter out after my first light off-roading and driving on dusty paths and the stock filter was filthy. Covered in dust and even bugs.

Well the dry filters from Injen/Mishimoto/AFE are rewashable cotton, they're just not oiled is all

Who can recommend the best California legal option. Probably the K&N filter is the only option besides the ROUSH?

I have been looking at Klamath Falls, OR, I have to wait for my teenage daughter goes to college. I just called Mishimoto and they said not legal but they would send it to Cali. Install looks easy so I just have to save original for smog in what, 5 years. Might be in Oregon by then.

There ya go. I've personally been looking at Injen myself, seems like a more complete package for less.

I could be wrong, just regardless not making a move until May-ish

... Maybe not, I might wanna wash it clean and it seems like it's just pure dry, so always the other two

Plan C: Get that intake, a washable dry filter from Mishi and pull a Dr Mephisto and combine the two so I can wash it later instead of vacuuming it

I decided I will get the CORSA Intake as I have the CORSA Exhaust. I have the V-6 and I dont want to remove so much factory parts in case I have to put the OEM air box back on. $369 and Summit Racing will send it if I check the box for offroad only use. I think I will get used to the Turbo Blowoff and it says 7hp and 7fft boost with OEM tune.

I love Cali by the way, grew up in Humboldt County with a 1976 Bronco Beast in my 20's (Glory DAYZ). Still visit family there. IN REALITY, THERE ARE 2 CALI'S, I'M FROM THE RIGHT END.
