I’m looking at getting a 12,000 lb badlands winch from harbor freight. Any suggestions on what mount to get for it? I have a 2025 badlands with Sasquatch package. Or if there is another suggestion, I would appreciate it. This is our first bronco, and first time off-roading. Help much appreciated.

ONE advantage to having your winch stick out the front: You can personalize your rig with the winch cover. This one arrived first, so it is on, but I also have a replacement with pink flowers. So you DO lose that option with the hidden winch...

This one looks interesting.if I didn’t have the factory winch I would have gone this route. https://www.maximus-3.com/product-page/ford-bronco-removable-winch-mount

Nice design, it would be great to make mounts to move the winch to the sides and back and have all the wiring ready to plug in.
Didn't see anyone list this one. Good price and design. https://sherpa4x4.com/products/the-...wvz8ZZDB2p5TZXyVxTC5O8iDpWLlbeKhoClpMQAvD_BwE

So, lets see... about 90 to 110 lbs? my short drum winch is 56 lbs and the mount plate is about 40.... Can not say I really want to carry that over the rocks. I like the idea... Just not sure about how excited I would be when I went to use it.

That is another advantage to the removeable winch plate. Plate and winch ride in the back reducing the front load by 90 pounds...

Good point.... but I am an old man. I am not a big guy... And while I do regularly lift things that weigh 100lbs... I typically do it on level surfaces without lots of tripping hazards. For you young guys, have at it.

I had to ask my husband what a winch is.

Do NOT judge me 😩

That does look great, and does not affect the performance on the trail... But on another thread, someone noted that you can't turn the clutch to free spin, so you have to use the motor to play out the cable.

Edited to add: That is one pretty build! GREAT job!!!

Okay... thinking about the clutch "no reach" claim... My guess is that is with the RC or the lobo hidden winch mounts... Although a lot of people actually make their own lever extension that reaches up into the engine bay

This mount is the Hammer built that actually mounts the winch up higher where the stock intercooler resides. Hence the requirement of the high mount intercooler to make this fit.

First pic is with the skid plate off just to show you where it actually mounts: The clutch lever is on the left hand side of this upside down winch....PXL_20250406_222142814.jpg

One thing I really really like is that the mount is firmly attached to the frame BEHIND the crush zone on the frame horns....

second pic is of my arm reaching the lever from the passenger wheel well with all skids mounted and in place.
