One of my favorites was a woman applying makeup doing 55 on the freeway... Taking a guess it wasn't the first time she'd done it. Thinking she'd poke her eye out with the eye liner pencil if she gets into a crash always makes me cringe.

Advil has a permanent place in my medicine cabinet, so I feel your pain. Luckily, they have a candy coating, which makes taking them much easier than plain ole aspirin.

I also want to express thanks to those who help our freedoms endure, in whatever capacity. This 249-year-old experiment in democracy continues. Our nation has got its share of problems, but it's still one of the best places to live in the world. Although the revolutionaries who fought for our independence are long dead, I would buy them a beer if I could. Probably a Sam Adams. Get it? Sam Adams. 😎

Just cause you have a gold badge doesn't mean you can't do a few movers. Strike a blow (or two) on behalf of auto-sanity! If I were in command, my district or department would work as follows:

Traffic (specialty) car/ MOP: minimum ten movers a day, five parking tickets.
Single-officer ("service unit" in Boston): five movers a day, three parking tickets
Two-officer ("rapid response" unit): Two movers a day, two parking tickets (per unit, not per officer)
Unmarked ("anti-crime" in Boston): five movers per 4-day rotation (per unit, not per officer)
Detectives: Two movers a week
Patrol Sergeants: One mover a day

Officers would have complete discretion to write "money" or warning, but would be encouraged to write "money."
This would be termed "performance goals," not a "quota." And no more than two movers from the same location each day--i.e., no sitting in one spot where people make frequent illegal left turns or red lights and writing them up in a half hour. (You know that game!)
Something has to be done about the rudeness, lack of consideration, and common insanity out there.

Call it whatever you want. It's still a quota which have led to many misguided officers and departments. Law enforcement's role is to catch bad doers in the act, dictated by their actions not a bullshit scoreboard. It is then up to a judge or jury to actually enforce the law. You are, however, spot on regarding the lack of human decency and respect on the road. Where I live laws are hard to enforce anymore plus we have a large number of uninsured and even unlicensed drivers. Ultimately quotas don't instill respect for Law enforcement nor the road but add to to resentment and lack of respect.

Found the free hotel breakfast. Went to watch Moab's 4th of July parade. Got to meet my new grand nephew. Got over to the Mill Creek trail head and gazed upon Potatoe Salad Hill. Did the hike. Started maybe 11 and got back about 3. Don't know how many miles. 18.000 steps. And none of it was easy. All of it was beautiful.
In room now. I don't take heat very well as I age.
