Sorry to hear all the crap is happening at one. Thoughts and prayers for Jeff. I hope all turns out well.

We got back Sunday night and it was a successful trip there and back. I helped my brother-in-law try to clear a few huge trees. So glad some neighbors joined in so we got a lot done.

The huge tree that Mike had been cutting last weekend kind of surprised us this weekend. We had cleared it's canopy and was starting to take chunks off the main trunk. Once we got towards the root ball, we noticed that the trunk was slightly raising off the ground which was making it easier to cut all the way through. We were moving a large chunk of wood that had already been cut off making room for the next big chunk that had almost been sawed through when we noticed the trunk was rising slowly. The cool thing is that it kept rising until it went all the way up. The frightening part was that a very large chunk was barely hanging on the end. The trunk acted like a catapult and through the large chunk in the air and almost landed on a picnic table loaded with chainsaw stuff. 😳 Just glad no one was under that thing.

She said it was a good organization and she could tell it was really ran well. Channing Tatum was there working the morning shift so that made Suzy's day. 😆

Wow. Glad all is well. Quite the tree. I've got my chainsaw ticket. I've seen some strange things with trees and spent some time in a logging camp. I know enough to be dangerous. Great job!

Out helping a buddy get his snow blower on his Tractor and it got sort of dark suddenly. The Meridian fire decided to blow up....been burning since Friday but was over 700 acres this morning.
I hope @Lots O Fords curse of snow here comes to fruition. Rain at the very least.

Sad to see that wildfire!! Guess we've been lucky this season with only 3 significant nearby fires - LOTs of smoke here most days though.

Looks like weather pattern changes coming in Thursday. Heck, models have a cut-off low over four corners area dumping couple days on SW Colorado's San Juan mtns - 20" in Telluride, 30" on Silverton Mtn. We're at 3" - 5" here and look like you're 3" to 7".

Time to shift our garage, moving weedwacker & mower back - Snowblower up!!

Cheers

HOLLY MOLLY - Glad everyone walked away from THAT!! Our 2 sons worked summers with a local tree service. They had several Big-Tree removal stories, but nothing like this!!

Nice pics, thanks.

UPDATE: no wonder it looked like that. It jumped the road is now in an area with massive beetle killed trees. It doubled in size yesterday afternoon. We need that winter storm sooner than later as there are miles and miles of beetle kill up there on the Cliff/Wade Lake bench.
Fire fighters had to pull out as it made it's run....but are back at it with more resources.

Yup. DiLs dad was in GA last week helping with cleanup and took a hit from a tree. He had surgery today to anchor his ribs to keep them off his lungs. Still in ICU and improving.
Be careful out there. That coiled up energy is no joke.
