Factory Roof Rails with Crossbars - Questions For 2Dr Owners That Have Received Bronco

I am a new user and this is my first post so please be kind!

I am considering adding the Roof Rails to my order, but I am not certain I will like them for various reasons (added wind noise and additional height on daily driver). I am concerned if I buy them and hate them, there will be no way to cover the mounting points on the windshield frame without getting an unobtainable part from Ford and having it painted to match.

On a forum post here, I saw someone that got a picture of their Bronco at the end of the production line when the rack wasn't installed yet and the painted covers were in place. They mentioned the racks got installed later and they posted owner pictures with the rack. I cannot find that post again to ask the person directly, so If you bought the rack from the factory and have received your Bonco, did they include the painted front mount covers that would allow you to take the rack off in your Bronco and cover the mounts?

Ordered build Badlands, 2dr, non SAS, 2.7, CG (Rack?)
Badlands 2Dr, A51, 2.7 Auto, High Package, Tow, Capable Bumper, Roof Rack

Interested to know? I did not order with a rack as I am assuming many more options will be on the market in 6 months .

On my Grand daughters Jeep Renagade I put a OME rack from a wrecked vehicle on. The mounting holes are on every Renegade just covered with trim if you do not order the rack or buy a trim package that does not come with it.

After a bunch of Broncos are out there some will decide to take the rack off or like me get one to put on so that may free up those trim pieces for you. Bet you see at lest one bronco with those trim pieces in anther color than the vehicle done on purpose because someone thinks they like the look. It is all good.
Waiting to be a Bronco owner got a base model on order. So someday, maybe?

I have not received,
But have a long standing order for a 2dr black Diamond with roof rails & cross bars.
All released Ford videos discussing the roof rail options have stated your “painted” covers will be in your glove box.

Thanks for the welcome and the information!

I read that post and an light bulb went on in my head that they would likely be included. Now I am planning to go with the rack and take my chances. I have experience with Jeeps and convertibles, so not expecting noiseless travel, but want options if the rack creates its own driving in a hurricane experience.

You really are in the best location for all things Bronco.
Part of the “Advantage” of the massive production delays is that you /we can all gain a massive amount of knowledge before delivery.
also just a heads up you probably know but
Roof Rails and Roof crossbars are different.
It’s the crossbars that will create the howling sound.
my wife and I received a Bronco Sport last spring the crossbars are flat aerodynamic shape and no sound issues even with a ski rack installed. But the sport has a much more tapered windshield and the front crossbar is located behind the B pillar which is seatbelt pillar.
Our bigger Broncos will “not” be as tolerant to not creating wind noise I presume.

Since we’ve got you here,
Does the Roof rack make in massive wind noise?
Does it “need” a wind deflector?

I'm hearing wind noise, but I have no idea if the rails are adding to it.

Plus, I'm always cranking the tunes.

Bronco Nation's own video from Nov 2020 confirms painted caps are supplied from the factory.

I have the factory roof rails installed - +1 on the caps were placed in the glove box in a package. I also have the headliner installed - noise at 80mph is not horrible or any worse than my past Jeeps. Including a couple of profile pics if that helps.

Thanks guys!

I can quite agonizing and just change the order. Possible OCD on my part wasn't going to like missing or possible off color caps if the roof rack ended up on a resale site.

@FM58 that is a beautiful Bronco.

Sounds like you can put the rack on or off as you choose. If on leave the cross bars off till needed to keep noise down.

On my jeep JKU with a roof rack it does make noise on the highway but since I seldom drive anything other than a gravel road at 30 mph I never notice.

If you're going to go topless, you would indeed have to remove the rails. It's not such an easy on/off process with rails.
