My wife and I will also be attending the Moab Bronco Off Rodeo 23 NOV. We won’t be arriving until late Friday before the event on Saturday. But if anyone is interested on easy to intermediate trail ride on Sunday let me know. I’ve got a mostly stock Badsquatch. We’ll be driving from San Antonio.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

On X didnt seem to work very well in Disney Oklahoma or maybe im just doing the app wrong.

Disney OK? Not sure where that is. I use OnX for following trails, and for finding curated trails all the time, it works rather well, and has good coverage in Moab. On the other hand I'm a Trail Guide, so I'm one of many who are creating those curated trails, so I'm probably a little biased. One of the features that I really like in Trails Offroad is for some of the curated trails they have videos, so you can see what you're getting into. But I don't use it when I'm actually on the trail.

One thing that people often overlook with OnX is to download the maps for the area you're running into their phone before heading out. If you don't do that, then you will have issues once you lose your Internet connection.

I love the list that was posted above, he only thing I would add is Sevenmile Rim. We went on that last time we were there and it was a fun trail AND you can stop at an arch that's not in Arches. We also took a slight detour off Sevenmile to go to Tusher Tunnel near the end of the run which was cool. Here's a link to Sevenmile: https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01JBWRQ2DRBW6G6FNG0BWJR7KH Note: be careful to check on that one, the BLM has changed the route a bit and some of the turns might not be exactly right anymore. I like this one because it gives you a little bit of everything Moab has to offer trail wise. It's a great warmup trail IMHO, though we ended up doing it at the end of our week.

Speaking of Arches, do you plan to go there? If so, we were in the "back way" which was also a fun easy trail with stops at one arch that isn't near a paved road so not very crowded called Eye of the Whale. Here's a link to the "back way" into arches route: https://webmap.onxmaps.com/offroad/share/content?share_id=01JBWQ3PZ9ZE4B1AB5HRRH5Z05

There are several Trails you can do by yourself if you don't have a crew. Potash to Schaffer being a flatlander (From the SATX area too) going up the switchbacks is better than coming down. Secret Spire is cool, Fins-n-things is not too bad. well there is one section where you have 3 choices to get off the fin take the middle one and don't hit the brakes when you get to the bottom, roll through it you'll be fine. and pretty much any listed above will be good. you just might want a seasoned spotter with you for Hells revenge/hells gate.
in an earlier post I linked a write up about our stock Everglades in Moab.

If you would like to meet up sometime and talk about Moab I work in the 1604 and Blanco area.

Chicken Corners is good for newcomers to Moab. I think it's been mentioned in previous posts. No lift needed.

I am headed hear this weekend (16-19 Jan) in my non SAS Stock 4 door Big Bend. Most of these have come up in other suggestions, but looking to see an opinion on Fins 'N' Things in that set up. I've watched a few videos of people running this trail, seems doable in the Big Bend. I've done the Moab Off-Rodeo, driven through the Arches NP 4x4 trail as well as Medano Pass in Great Sand Dunes NP, but have limited other off road experience.

While mine is a SAS 2 door badlands. My 2 cents is, you should do fine. The traction is so increasable that it was rare i used a locker and it was mostly on the options. A front camera is VERY helpful.
hopefully someone with a similar setup can comment.

Many thanks! I appreciate the input. I was pretty ok with going until I saw the Bronco Nation trail review of it and had pretty extensive rear locker use. No front camera, but I'll have a spotter going with me.

We made a point of not having any lockers on because of how much traction.
The first time I did it I used lockers. The second time, I didn't. Gonna be fun

So I think a trip report is in order. Fins N Things can be completed in a non SAS Big Bend. However, I definitely need to get some skid plates on the bottom side, especially the rear control arm mounts. 35s and a lift would have made it a little less stressful about scratching stuff, but not strictly necessary to complete. I did not attempt the Wall but did all the other optional obstacles.

While in Moab this past weekend, completed some of the other beginner/first timer trails: Potash Road, Shaffer Trail, Hurrah Pass and Chicken Corners, Gemini Bridges, and did the Colorado River Overlook in the Needles district of Canyonlands.

Fantastic weekend and a very good time offroad in Moab!

You are absolutely correct about skid plates. Low hanging fruit first. Rear lower shock/rear lower trailing arm combo, skids for the leading edge of the trailing arm. Transmission cross member skids and rear differential skids. Those are a great start. Also consider upgrading front, engine, transmission and gas tank skid. Great pictures!

Great shots of the Broncos in action.
So have you planned your next trip to Moab yet? Onion creek and Dubinky well, and hidden spire, are good scenic trails.

Here are a few videos for trails mentioned, too!

How did I not see these videos before????

Before I went to Moab the first time last May (2025), I watched dozens of videos on various trails, including all of these, and never once did these come up. So much for smart social media algorithms!

The videos were fabulous!!!

Not yet, but I've already got the itch to go back. I think the goal for the next trip is a long weekend over White Rim Trail. I'm not much of a camper, but seeing some of these longer trails makes me want to be one. I'm stationed in Colorado Springs until at least October and there is so much we wanna see, do, and hike.

What is your opinion on the ford OEM skids and adding the diff plate and control arm skids?
