If you go to Mears for the dunes, stop by Little Sable Point Lighthouse, one of Michigan's many historical lighthouses (we have 129 in the state).
It was built in 1874, is a 115 feet tall, and is on a great public beach for swimming. Just get your state park sticker for entry (or have it on your license plate), and you're all set to enjoy. You can climb the tower for a small cost, but I have always headed straight to the water.

Sand Dunes day! I cowboy camped this one and woke up to stars and a sunrise.
@alyd09 led a good-sized group of Bronco owners over the dunes from the campground in an unofficial parade. It kept growing way past this amount.

Careful with the "puddles" at Silver Lake, some are way deeper (over the hood) than they look!

So if you want a fun place to off-road, go camping, and enjoy Michigan's gorgeous coastline, Silver Lake is it. 2021 Oxford White 2-door non-Sas Mid package 2.7L/10-speed Badlands with MIC top
