It is time that I buy a new vehicle and the Bronco Heritage caught my eye. On Wednesday this week I visited my local dealer and signed on with a $2500 deposit for a 2024 Cactus Grey Heritage (only option - tow package) with a 2.3 and a manual transmission. I did the paperwork for the financing and by the time I drove home there was a message that the financing was approved and they would place the order that afternoon. Cool.
Oh, did I mention that the dealer insisted the deposit was “non-refundable” once the order was in because they didn’t want to get stuck with a Bronco that they couldn’t sell. Apparently, there are storage lots full of manual transmission Broncos…….yeah, right.
Two hours later, it all change. The dealer tells me that Ford has place a “stop order” on all Heritage models for 2024 effective days ago. No more orders until 2025. They suggested I to wait until September to place the order and then wait the 8 months for delivery. Or, they could find me a non-Heritage with the same equipment (they added that they could wrap the roof, wheels, grill and dash to make it look like a Heritage).
So, I chose to look at what they could find with the same specs (minus the wrap it in plastic idea). They came up with a Badlands but no surprise, the bottom line came in at $16k more than my original order!! Nope, not going there.
The way I look at it, they defaulted on the sale, so I requested my deposit back as I don’t want them earning interest on my money for the next four months.
