Disappointed how my Bronco looked upon pickup.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!! The dealership has been working with Ford but have not gotten answers. The dealership has decided to honor the deal and they placed an order for a new Bronco. Still hoping that they can continue to work with Ford and get this pushed through faster than 4 months which is what we have waited for the first one to arrive. So fingers crossed that this one arrives in better condition!

I ordered a 2025 Bronco Outer Banks in back in May. I have waited patiently and after the vehicle being stuck in quality control at Ford for over a month with no details, it finally arrived to the dealership. We went to pick it up and were so disappointed. Every door on the Bronco had SEVERAL paint chips out of it including a roof panel. There were visible defects under the PPF that was installed by Ford like where they did not clean it first before application. The inside was filthy to the point that my hands were black just from trying to figure out how to access the storage in the rear. Come to find out, that was a totally separate issue and the extended tailgate must be installed wrong as it will not lift up even though it should. Interior panels scratched. The roof was so dirty and had never been cleaned with tape across it. We couldn't even tell if there were more defects under all that filth! Disappointed in Ford and in the dealership for even letting us come get it looking like that. I am sure they just hoped we would not care. Well, guess what if I am spending that much money for something, I care! This was my very first new vehicle that I have ever owned and the condition of a supposed new vehicle is so frustrating! I refused the vehicle and now we wait. We ordered back when Ford was offering employee pricing and if they wont honor that price and build us a new vehicle, that will be the end of my Bronco dream before it even started!

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

The dealer is supposed to clean that thing, and generally check it out, before they hand it over to you. This doesn't bode well for your dealership choice...

That is rough. there is no excuse for the dirt and your dealership trying to release it to you in that condition. Your dealership should send it through a make ready process that addresses any issues the factory was not able to do, but those should be minor. These things are not Range Rovers but they should be clean, and in new condition. remember a large portion of a Bronco's cost is not on creature comforts and things you see it is on all the stuff that makes these things amazing off roaders and very comfortable on the street. I don't know if I would give up that quickly you might try to find a similar build sitting on a lot somewhere.
If you don't mind me asking what options were you wanting on your OBX, that is the most common trim level found on dealer lots.
BN 1100, Desert Sand Everglades. Reservation 7/30/20. ordered 1/22/21, reordered 10/15/21 dropped tow and hard top, reordered 3/9/22 changed to Everglades. production date 9/7/22 rescheduled 9/14/22 completed 9/26/22, shipped 10/7/22, arrived 10/31/22, delivered 11/03/22

I am curious if the items you mentioned, PPF slide out table etc were factory or dealership installed options. When you reference chips in the paint and roof is the roof a painted one or carbonized grey one. And lastly, did you decline the vehicle or go over the issues before you took delivery? Please post some pictures I would like to see the mess they delivered to you!

We ordered the PPF from the factory, extended tailgate, painted roof, floor mats. Can’t find one on a lot anywhere. Still hoping the dealer makes it right and orders us another one!

Everything mentioned was ordered directly from the factory along with the painted roof. We did decline the vehicle and are waiting for the dealership to get back with us after speaking with their rep on our options. There was no way we were driving that off the lot! I don’t have many photos. Just close up ones of the many many chips and PPF issues. I was so excited to go pick it up and left so disappointed.

Good, I wouldn’t have accepted it either. That completely sucks. Please keep us posted.

That is so disappointing to hear! Sounds like Ford should never had shipped it and the dealer failed to clean it up. Just terrible customer service.

I don't think you should blame Ford for this. When a dealership receives a vehicle from transport, they are supposed to perform a PDI (predelivery inspection). The dealership is supposed to have any issues, which can happen during transport, corrected. Pre-delivery of the vehicle, the dealership should thoroughly clean the vehicle in preparation of delivery to you. My wife has worked in Ford dealerships for over 40 years as a master certified service advisor, master certified warranty admin & master certified service manager. I have heard of the PDI requirements for years. Please don't blame Ford.

My dealer did a check up/inspection and gave it a wash before it was released to me. That doesn't fix the scratches and paint chips, though. I agree this makes your dealer look bad, more than Ford.

What you say has some merit. There is a chain of custody that vehicle follows on the way into the hands of the buyer, and it may very well have left the factory in good condition. Though the condition of the factory installed PPF seems to contradict that. Still, and with respect, Ford is ultimately in control of each link of that supply chain. They dictate to the line workers who do the assembly/installation (like the PPF), carriers, lot owners, even the dealership the standards of care and handling - in actual documents as well as training and certifications.

Plain and simple, this is a cascading failure of humans, the quality of which has been on general decline for some time and you can't just blame the Millenials (no matter how satisfying that may be). Here, Ford - in the hands of their managers and others under their authority in the supply chain - is tolerating the decline and allowing dealers to perform really terrible acts. Ford then defends their practices through their regional factory representatives by denying claims not settled by refusal at delivery or that occur after, then fail to support real warrranty related conditions until there are enough reported loudly that the NTSB starts an investigation and a recall or service bulletin is issued. The dealers are no better since they are the ultimate perpetrators of the delivey, warranty denial and generally unethical, if not illegal practices.

Until society becomes less tolerant of this poor performance in others and themselves, this trend will persist and planes will, quite literally, continue to fall out of the skies. Because, as you know, airplane mechanics, among others - like the folks at Ford, seem to have set aside their quest for excellence, placing more value on their work/life balance and lighting up on their breaks than doing the thing for which they are being paid.

Consider not compromising until you receive the excellence you deserve. You are trading your money for something else of value. Price is only one measure. You get to decide the quality you are willing to accept or whether you go spend your hard earned money on somebody else's stuff. Good luck with the dealer.

I tend to agree, but you also have to consider the relentless push for profits that companies like Ford (and Boeing) are constantly chasing. Boeing is a perfect example. For decades, it was run by engineers at the highest levels of management, which fostered a culture of innovation, safety, and quality. After the merger with McDonnell Douglas, those leaders were replaced by executives focused on the bottom line. They outsourced major work, cut the workforce, and shifted priorities away from engineering excellence and quality. The result? Doors literally falling off planes at altitude and software that failed in critical moments—all in the name of maximizing profit.

This is awful and unacceptable. Both Ford and the dealership should NOT have allowed this to happen.
Also, did you have an option to opt out of even taking it in such condition?

Either way -- Hopefully this is resolved to your level of satisfaction.
