Can't even order from my local dealer

Placed an order through Ford for a 2024 Heritage on Saturday (or was it Sunday?) and sent the build to my local dealer. They contacted me Monday requesting my license, proof of insurance, asking if I had a trade...the whole 9 yards as if I was financing and buying this bronco tomorrow. I told them I wasn't concerned with all of that, I just wanted to drop my deposit to get my build in the queue like I did with my Badlands. Basically, they will not accept my deposit or place my build without 3 pints of blood and my first born? Is this what everyone else out there is doing, like is this normal or are they over-reaching? Like I said, I didn't have to do any of this at the same dealership when I ordered my Badlands so I'm perplexed about the run around.

They're likely just ensuring you are a serious buyer. For 2023MY, Ford had a requirement that a certain percentage of retail orders be sold to the original order holder, and if a dealership passes below that percentage they can lose allocations. This was done to lessen the amount of duplicate and fake orders Ford was getting. It became such a big issue that Ford had to create the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program) to try to battle it.

BUT, all they really need for COVP is your license, not sure why having a trade or insurance has anything to do with it. Maybe the dealer is close to their threshold and is going the extra mile to help ensure that their orders will actually get sold. (Or maybe they're just overreaching, who knows.)

Article on COVP that @Laura wrote awhile ago, if you want more info.

Sounds like you’re normal and they are over-reaching. This is an example of why folks cringe at many dealerships.

when I traded in my Badlands for my everglades(which was someone no longer wanted it) I had to give them my drivers license and insurance information. even though this was my second bronco bought from them. They said it was a requirement from ford.

Just order through Ford directly and select your dealer. Should work? My dealer only asked for a picture of my DL. No deposit no nothing

I built and ordered through the Ford Website and it sent the order to the dealer I selected who confirmed it. This might work for if you select another dealer. God luck!

All 2024 Bronco orders require COVP. I ordered in August. My dealer didn't even require a deposit.

Ford requires a license copy, so they believe it is a real order. Why complain about it and do what they ask?

so you just do whatever anyone tells you to do without questioning it and asking others if they are having the same experience just to verify?

Ford says you need a copy of your license. I did orders for 4 years for Ford Dealership. They will not build your order with out proof of license.

More proof of the arrogant and rude attitude you get from dealer personal, another argument for direct sales.
But none of that matters ,with all the problems they have with the Bronco , who wants to buy one?
