This morning I had the pleasure of speaking with a genuinely nice and well-trained customer support person on the Bronco Support Team at 1-800-334-4375. I was able to obtain this number from an equally nice person at the Ford Customer Support number 1-800-392-3673.

(I tend to be a calm rational person during challenging times, and this was no exemption.)

I had accessed my options regarding dealer allocations and located an alternative dealer who is projected to have an abundance of allocations in 2022. My goal this morning was to request a change of dealers. The answer was NO. Ford is not allowing any dealer transfers. When asked if that policy might change. The answer was also NO.

When I explained how I could not hold on until 2023 for a Bronco, I was directed to contact my dealer to request a cancellation of my order and reservation. So, there you have it.

Have a lovely day! :)

I asked my dealer and he told me how many orders they had, their allocation, and where I was within the allocation. Unscrupulous dealers may not give out that info.
My dealer told me as well last year. But that is not really the question. OP indicated he ascertained a different dealer, not his current, that is projected to have a high allocation. However, it turns out to be merely speculation based on website sleuthing, not anything concrete. I wouldn’t say that a dealer that keeps this information private is necessarily unscrupulous. Most dealership are owned by large corporate entities with all sorts of policies. Customers deal with sales people in 99% of the cases that have no real decision making ability. The entire car buying process is archaic, almost as bad as home buying in the US with loads of fees and transactional parasites.

A wise person once said, “The emotions you feel when a seek an object can be very different from the emotions you feel when you obtain the object.”
I think the quote is:
"After a time, you may find that ‘having’ is not so pleasing a thing after all as ‘wanting.’ It is not logical, but it is often true."

Ah, gotcha. I somehow missed the context, which in retrospect is pretty obvious. D'oh.

Well, that does it then. Ford has not only prevented loyal Bronco enthusiasts from pursuing options more favorable to receiving their order in a timely manner, they have effectively nullified any leverage a customer might have had in negotiating price, and preventing dealerships from pricing customers out of their Order. This gives the green light for dealerships to sell Broncos reserved a year and a half ago to the highest bidder.

I don’t anticipate my reorder negotiations going well this coming Friday.

I will say this…….if what BuzzyBud says is true, then that revelation would seem to be in conflict with one of the presumed goals of the recent revisions to the allocation formula.

It’s assumed that one of the primary goals of that revision was to prevent dealerships like Granger from selling thousands below invoice and effectively poaching customers from local dealerships. Additionally, a related goal is supposedly to force those Granger customers that are way outside the allocation to transfer orders from Granger, and back to their local dealerships? If they can’t transfer then what’s the point? Would Ford be so cruel as to subject their reservation holders to collateral damage in an effort to rein in Granger? Forcing them to wait years for their Bronco or cancel and start all over? If so…..that is diabolical.

Strange. I've spoken to two dealers close to FoMoCo HQ and are pretty knowledgeable, and both have said this will be possible starting on the 14th/ 15th.

@BuzzyBud sorry to hear about your experience. I know you have been a champion from the beginning and have spent a lot of time planning for your eventual delivery. I hope that you can find a dealer that will assist you with getting your Bronco, I would hate to see you miss out after so much time waiting and planning.

Rod, thank you for your kind words. It has been a long journey and I learned a great deal. Since it is human nature to gravitate toward the familiar, a part of me seeks to just get the darn thing in the garage. I will admit I engaged in extensive research and that was fun. Intellectual exercises like this are never a waste of time.

After a wonderful night sleep, I am convinced my best course of action will be to simply convert my MY21 reservation/order to MY22 and select a priority of “99”. I will go into hibernation until October of 2022 when I may look at the MY23 Broncos and see what Ford has to offer.

Best of luck with your Bronco.

Mine may essentially be 99'd too. I'm going back to my original order which has many of the no-no commodities. See you in 23 !

I think I'd escalate this right up the food chain. Frankly you've been a great supporter and participant on the Forum and someone needs to take note and come up with a better answer.

This isn't meant as a comment toward BuzzyBud, but isn't everyone a great supporter? Ford has 100k+ orders, maybe closer to 200k+ at this point. Shouldn't Ford come up with a better answer for every.single order-holder?

@BuzzyBud I'm seeing some chatter in my Facebook group I manage that people have successfully changed dealers as recently as today. Also, the Ford rep on the live chat did mention that Ford wants to ensure customers have a good experience.
So, maybe there’s still hope for you to get that 2-door you originally wanted?

The sooner you realize that Ford doesn't care, the easier these issues are to understand lol....seriously though.

I changed dealers a month or two after I reserved in March. They were too small, too far out of town, didn't want to budge on any negotiations. And I figured their allotment would be very small (they won't tell you), why should I drive 1 hour to get it or do service? Their only advantage was you don't pay the additional 1.5% sales tax the city charges. So what? I switched to the big city dealer, and even with a late reservation have a build date this month. They agreed on free oil changes for life. At $30/change, that will be $900 I save in 10 years.

I also dropped the Modular Hard Top and Tow. So what? I bought a $118 hitch aftermarket, ready to install myself. The Hard Top? I'll get one later, after driving the soft top for 1 year. Then I'll have TWO tops to alternate with the seasons. If the 2.3 with the Manual is too week, by 2023 they'll probably offer a 2.7 with a Manual....I'll trade up.

I don't understand the people that want to wait...and wait...and wait....stubbornly refusing to change the things that will give them a Bronco 1 to 2 years earlier. But I'm optioning DOWN, not Up. When people rationalize "If I'm gonna pay $55K, it's gonna be RIGHT!" I think "I'm going to pay $37K, not that much for a 4wd truck. If I want luxury I'd get an F250 optioned out.

I'm also not understanding being told you "cannot change dealers". Oh yes you can, you just have to work the system. You cancel a reservation, the dealer is dropped. You make a new one with another dealer. Or you have your wife or parents do the 2nd order. Etc., there are ways.

I agree totally with you. Especially with all the after market options that are already available for Broncos. I ordered one with a tow package but at the first sign of a delay I'm dropping that off my order.

Some of it is us folks who are really into factory, stock vehicles. It's like going to a car show and seeing a 1965 Mustang with the orignal hi-po engine and original air conditioning. we ohhh and ahh.

Some of us also plan on keeping our Broncos for life. Basically, we want to get in on that 1965 Mustang.

Congrats on getting your Bronco!!

I'm not ashamed to admit when I was told my Bronco wasn't going to be a 1964 1/2 I bailed. I reserved early on 7/14 and ordered on the first day. I was told I had a very good chance at getting exactly what I wanted and being one of the first to get it. After a couple of emails and updates from Ford it was clear I wouldn't be a 2021, but I had several conversations with the dealer (who was great). He really wanted the sale, but he also wanted me to be a happy (repeat) customer. After more updates from Ford he said yeah, you're an early reservation, within our allocation, but it's probably not going to be built the way you want it. If you don't change your build it's probably going to be a 2022. At least he was honest.

I had told him early on, if it isn't a 2021 you can sell it to someone else. He didn't, he actually cancelled the order and I got a confirmation from Ford that my order was cancelled (and won't be re-sold to someone else).

This past summer I went through my phase of changing the build to get a Bronco sooner than later. Like many I went from 2-door to 4-door soft top. Did not help and quite frankly, I felt terrible. It felt like going into a shoe store seeking a pair of hiking boots and being sold a pair of bedroom slippers. Some might say, at least you would not be bare foot. I expect too much for spending 50K+. ;)
I'm actually very surprised you didn't get a build after making that switch. Almost everyone I have seen comment on here and over there got a build and VIN within two weeks. I understand the MIC to soft top switch, especially if you are like me and want both eventually and the MIC was never really appealing anyhow, add the prep kit and it was a no brainer switch. But 2dr to 4dr is a big deal IMO.

Have you switched back to MIC/2dr or waiting to switch dealers and place a MY22 order?
