Recently, a Bronco Sport Badlands followed a Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch out on the trails. The Bronco owner was using the new Bronco Trail App, and the vehicles were headed out on a trail the app marks as a moderate 2. The Bronco owner had picked the trail with the Sport in mind.
While both vehicles excelled at the trail, the Sport owner found their limits and ended up turning back. You can find the full account of the adventure here. It’s an interesting story and worth the read.
There are a few points to highlight from the 7-hour outing:
- The Bronco Trail App ratings may make a trail sound easier than it is. Other trail rating systems work on a 1-10 scale.
- Be prepared to spend hours longer on the trail than intended. Take water, food, and supplies.
- Bring recovery gear that you know how to use.
- Research before you go. If possible, pre-run trails before leading others out on them. Discuss your experience and vehicle capabilities with your group before heading out.
- And if you’re following someone in a higher clearance/equipped vehicle, do what the Sport owner did and call it when you feel like you are not able to keep going.
Check out the owner’s story for their review of their Sport off-road, and let us know –– have you tried one of the Bronco Trail App trails? How did the rating compare to the terrain?
