No Hybrid Offering

The wait is over for the new model year of Bronco Sport, and now is the chance to preview what the 2024 has (or doesn’t have) compared to the 2023. Check out the recently updated Bronco Sport Build & Price configurator!

To quickly answer the question we were all asking and wondering, no, there is no hybrid offering for the 2024, despite it being available as a $1,500 addition on the 2024 Maverick and the vehicles both being assembled in the Hermosillo, Mexico plant.

2024 Trims

Now that we’ve set aside the hybrid option, a high-level review of the ordering guide shows overall that not too much has changed, although there is a new Free Wheeling trim as well as a Black Appearance package only available on the Big Bend. There are also a couple of color additions as well as a few color deletions.

Let’s look at the 2024 series line up from low to high:

  • Big Bend
  • Heritage
  • Free Wheeling –– NEW!
  • Outer Banks
  • Badlands

The Free Wheeling Trim

The Free Wheeling trim is a throwback that pays homage to the Ford lineup of Free Wheeling Broncos and trucks from 1977-1981.

Free Wheeling Bronco

Like the Heritage offering, the Free Wheeling has a retro look that includes the Free Wheeling graphic package, a silver painted grill, a painted shadow black roof, and cool 17” Ebony wheels with race-red painted accents.

The interior also provides a vintage feel with Sunset weave cloth seats, race red door ring, a unique armrest, center console, and badge. From a powertrain and off-road capability perspective, it is the same as all the trims other than the Badlands.

Color Changes

What are the color additions? There are two nice looking colors that we’ve seen in the full sized Broncos:

  • Azure Gray Tinted Clearcoat, which looks very similar to Area 51
  • Desert Sand

Some of the color deletions are heartbreaking for blue fans like me, and include the following:

  • Alto Blue
  • Area 51
  • Cyber Orange
  • Peak Blue Metallic
  • Yellowstone Metallic

An additional deletion to the Convenience Package (96B) is the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start and Secure Code Keyless Entry keypad and the Zipper Pockets on the backs of the driver/passenger seat. It appears that the Zipper Pockets will remain on the Badlands trim, but the Intelligent Access has been completely removed.

The Black Appearance Package

The Black Appearance Package, available only in the Big Bend trim as option 67G includes a unique graphic package, black wheels, a black roof, and unique badges, cargo mat, floor liners front/rear (no carpet mats), and sport contour bucket seats.

The Topo Graphic Package: Now Easier to Find

The Topo Graphic Package (85C) that I featured in an earlier article remains on the ordering guide and can be included on all trims other than Heritage and Free Wheeling.
