In the other thread you mentioned something about chips for the tow package. My salesman told me that the way they understand the build process if you have a VIN then they have all the parts to build your Bronco... I have tow and they confirmed its built waiting on a chip. The big question I have is that despite my Bronco being built with tow, will it be further delayed because its waiting on a chip for the tow? At this point its built so its not like I can drop the tow. This is all a lot to try and figure out.
From what I have been able to understand, this more than likely has nothing to do with Tow package, and may or may not have something to do with the electrical part of the towing. I have heard a couple of rumors (and just that, rumors) that it is more focused on (example) Heated seats and a wide variety of components that these semiconductors maintain control over. I believe there are 1,500 to 3,000 semiconductors built in one single Bronco. Each of these chips maintaining a variety of task to keep your Bronco running safe and keep everything functioning as it should.

Ford has updated the Bronco Support FAQ page to give customers more information on current events.

Ordering and Next Steps
I have a Bronco SUV reservation but have not converted it to an order yet, what steps do I take to convert my reservation?
In an effort to continue prioritizing the orders we already have, we are pausing new retail orders of the 2022 model year Bronco after March 7, 2022. While there are no guarantees, make sure to convert your reservation to an order before then for the chance to get a 2022 model-year Bronco. If you want to continue to wait for 2023 MY options, like the painted roof, reservations will remain and carry over to 2023.

Why did Ford shut off retail orders for 2022 MY Broncos after March 7, 2022?
Due to the high demand, we are temporarily pausing new retail orders for Bronco vehicles, so we can prioritize existing order holders. We want you to know this is a temporary pause and our plan is to kick off ordering for the 2023 MY Bronco starting later this year. We are taking this action to help build more of your existing orders.

What’s the reason behind the latest backlog of Bronco SUVs at the lot near Willow Run Airport? Is it all chip-related? If so, any particular function?
This is chip related. The global semiconductor shortage continues to affect Ford’s North American plants along with automakers and other industries around the world. Behind the scenes, our teams have been working on how to maximize production, with a continued commitment to building every high-demand vehicle for our customers with the quality they expect. Our goal is to have all vehicles updated in the next 90 days, pending chip availability.

Can I update my order after the order bank is closed?
Yes, you can update your order up until your Bronco gets scheduled for production. Changing your series, equipment package, number of doors, or 4x4 system will cause your order to update with new mid-year price levels. See pricing FAQs for further information.

What importance do reservation timestamps have for 2022 MY scheduling?
All Bronco SUV orders will continue to be prioritized according to the time they were reserved, vehicle model and configuration selected, part availability, and the number of vehicles your dealer receives.

Why did Ford remove paint protection from 2022 MY Bronco orders?
In an effort to increase the chances of more Bronco orders being built in 2022, we are removing paint protection film from all orders except for the 2022 Bronco Wildtrak series.

If you still want paint protection film, reach out to your dealer about getting the dealer-installed paint protection film available from our Bronco Accessory catalog. Note: Installation is an additional cost. Please see your dealer for details. Otherwise, no action is needed from you at this time. Your order and pricing will be automatically adjusted down by $295 to reflect this update.

How long on average do you expect Bronco SUVs affected by the global semiconductor shortage to sit before production is finished and they are delivered?
Bronco SUVs are being updated and shipped daily. Our goal is to have all of them updated in the next 90 days, pending chip availability.

What can I do to get my order built sooner?
Trailer Tow continues to be a high-demand item with 60% of orders including this feature, while our build rate is only capable of 35%. Because of this imbalance, and to give you a better opportunity to get your Bronco in the 2022 model year, we are highly recommending you remove the Trailer Tow Option. The good news is we have an alternative trailer tow hitch system that can be installed by your dealer. Contact your dealer for assistance to remove Trailer Tow from your order and ask about the Trailer Hitch Kit (#MB3Z-19D520-A) and 4-pin Wiring Harness for Trailer Hitch Kit (#FT1Z-15A416-A). If you require a 7-pin connection for your trailering needs, please keep the factory option selected.

As we have previously shared, the Mold in Color (MIC) hardtop also continues to be constrained. To give your order a better chance of being built in 2022 model year, we recommend you switch to a soft top.

Can I place an order for a Bronco vehicle if I do not have a reservation?
Yes, the last day to do this is March 7th, 2022. You can work directly with your dealer to place an order. All Bronco orders will continue to be prioritized according to the time they were reserved, vehicle model and configuration selected, part availability, and the number of vehicles your dealer receives. As an alternative, a small amount of stock units may be available at your dealer for purchase.

What is being done by Ford to manage the timing and production of the Bronco SUV?
We are doing everything possible to ensure quality as we roll out the new Ford Bronco vehicle. To thank customers for your patience, we have also provided numerous customer satisfaction actions. These efforts have included:

  • Investing in Bronco parts supply chain, including the increased capacity of high-demand parts
  • Offering Price Protection on Manufactured Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) through 2023 MY for all reservation and order holders as of March 19, 2021
  • Providing up to $1,100 worth of FordPass Rewards points (eligibility based on customer’s order as of March 19, 2021) to use towards accessory purchases, like the fold-out tray table, door bags, roof racks, or some off-road lights. The full Bronco accessory catalog can be viewed on the Ford Accessories website.
  • Including no-charge sound deadening headliner roof material on all molded-in-color hardtops from the factory through 2022 MY
  • Offering free hardtop prep kits for all Bronco four-door vehicles equipped with soft top beginning with September 2021 production

What can I do if I cannot agree to a selling price with my dealer?
Dealers are independent franchises. The final price a customer will pay for any vehicle is agreed between themselves and a dealer that is at, below, or above MSRP. We recommend that all customers agree to a selling price with your dealer when an order is placed via a signed purchase agreement. If you have any further questions, please contact a member of our Bronco Support Team at 800-334-4375.

Who can I contact with questions besides my dealer?
Your dealer should be your primary contact for ordering information and delivery timing. If you have any further questions, please contact a member of our Bronco Support Team at 800-334-4375.

2022 MY Pricing
The most recent Build & Price update shows increased pricing for Bronco. Is this correct?
New pricing is currently reflected in Build & Price. We will share additional information on how this impacts current reservation and unscheduled order holders ahead of order banks opening on March 8, 2022.

Why are there price increases for the 2022 MY?
Prices change year-to-year to reflect market realities across all vehicle lines.

2022 MY Bronco Options & Feature Updates
What are the most notable updates for the 2022.5 MY?
As part of the model-year update, we are introducing the Everglades, Raptor, and the HOSS 3.0 package on Wildtrak.

What content is in the new HOSS 3.0 Package for Wildtrak?
Highlights of this new package include:

  • FOX 2.5-inch Internal Bypass Dampers
  • Upgraded steering rack from Bronco Raptor
  • Upgraded tie rods
  • A rear stabilizer bar
  • A powder-coated front bumper with tow hooks
  • Steel front bash plate

Will existing order holders be able to order the new 2022.5 MY Bronco options?
Bronco special editions, like other Ford specialty vehicles, are produced in lower numbers annually. We are not able to guarantee availability for all existing order holders. That being said, the chance to order Everglades and HOSS 3.0 Package will be exclusively available to unscheduled order holders.

When will the new Bronco options for 2022.5 be available?
Deliveries for special edition Bronco vehicles (like the Bronco Raptor, Everglades, and Wildtrak with HOSS 3.0) start this summer.

How can I get a Bronco Everglades and the Wildtrak with HOSS 3.0 Package?
For the 2022 model year, all Bronco Everglades and HOSS 3.0 packages will go to existing unscheduled order holders. If you would like a chance at one these new models, make sure you have an unscheduled order prior to March 7, 2022. Starting on March 9, 2022, see your dealer to update your existing order to one of these new models.

When will the FordPass Performance App with Off-Road Navigation launch for the Bronco vehicle?
The FordPass Performance App will now launch in the 2022 calendar year. Stay tuned for more information.

Yes unfortunately if you are on Ice Mountain you are in limbo until they get the specific chips needed to complete your build.
My understanding is that chips are available, but Ford has prioritized new line builds over Ice Mountain Broncos that have been sitting for the past 5 weeks and some of which (according to Ford) will sit for another 90 days. When train/rail time/rail yard time are factored in it appears some of the Ice Mountain bunch won’t receive their Broncos until Late June or early July.
We had a chip issue a month ago. Now we have a choose your poison issue.
Newly built Broncos are now being shipped directly to dealerships without a layover at ice mountain. What we now have is a Ford fairness issue in which they have prioritized new builds over Ice Mountain builds. This is not shocking nor unexpected. This callous template and obvious disregard for their customers was cast with the Dirt Mountain bunch from the summer of 2021.
The Ford wheels of progress will continue to turn, so what if a few thousand customers get caught up in the gears……full steam ahead.

I'm still salty that the price protection is not extended to all 2021 order holders. I wouldn't dream of charging a customer more for something they ordered, just because *I* wasn't able to deliver it on time. And I'm getting stung twice, because you have the overall increase AND they took away the modular bumper as standard. So that's another $585 for something that was free before. It just defies logic.

Ah the sweet relief once I realize that most of my guesses yesterday were largely correct. Otherwise I'd have a bunch of threads I'd need to go update today. I should just stop guessing, don't want to mistakenly give people bad info.

Yeah, it sucks, but I think Ford's thought process is they knew they weren't going to be able to deliver all of the 2021 models in mid-March. They made that information publicly available to both the dealers and customers, but if people still opted to order then knowing that their chances of getting a 2021 were basically zero, then that's on them. After they made the announcement public they couldn't just offer price protection to everyone because everyone would rush submit an order to get locked into 2021 pricing. So it makes sense.

The problem... I think... is dealers weren't very upfront with this information. So if you hadn't done extensive research ahead of time, and walked into a dealer at July 2021 to order a Bronco, you wouldn't of had the backstory on the whole thing unless the dealer provided that information. And my hunch is that most dealers didn't provide that information. They just took your order and said "have a good day!".

I don't know if I can say this without changing the direction of this thread, I'm sure a moderator will let me know and I can always edit it. I just wanted to say you talk of these cardboard hard tops, that was the 1.0 version not the 2.0 version. I have a friend who's high up in this company that took the contract from Ford for the new 2.0 hardtops, he has assured me they are way better quality than what the 1.0 version was. He has also told me they are rolling them out at a pretty good rate, you should see the constrained number to these tops start to drop off as they are mass-producing these 2.0 tops. I didn't bring this up to step on your toes or have a "posting-war" I just wanted to make sure the facts got out there. I believe in another month or two we will be seeing some good numbers coming out from these 2.0 tops. I really trust this friend of mine with what he is telling me.
Thanks!
This is consistent with a lot of information that I've heard from Ford reps, and from what others have said as well. The 2.0 MIC tops are quite good, and are being produced in huge quantities without issue. Ford rep last told me (I know, I know, but this was not a dealer, this was a FoMoCo marketing rep with quite a bit of intel internally) that many of the parts that are labeled as constrained should be available in significantly larger quantities come mid-March, and to not make any changes to orders at all. Chips ares still a 50/50, but there is a lot of confidence in getting those in larger quantities as well.

Could you guys also ask Ford why some of the Broncos with later build weeks are getting earlier delivery dates than ones that were built before them and are being kept in the lot? For example, just saw a build that was nearly identical to mine that was built a week later have a delivery date of March while mine is in May. Thanks!

I'm guessing the reason why certain information can't be answered now is because of some release/NDA date Ford has placed on said information??

Excellent question. This is not an aberration. It appears from looking at the 02/07 and newer build groups on the other forum that they are all getting build/ship status regardless of trim while nearly the entirety of much earlier groups have been showing “in production” for over 5 weeks. Assuming ford hasn’t developed build week specific chips, the chips that were shipped in newly built units, could just have easily been placed in ice mountain Broncos.
Another question would be….could the chips required to complete the ice mountain builds be placed in an ESD proof bag, tossed in the glove box along with instructions and shipped to the dealership for installation by a certified ford mechanic? If possible it seems like a much more efficient task than sending a handful of personnel out in the elements clearing a few out of thousands every day…..not even a few as it pertains to the 1/17 group.

It really is frustrating to those going out before mine. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for them but it just doesn't make sense.
Velocity Blue, Black Diamond, Soft Top, 2.3L, Auto, Tow, Mid. In production since 2/1. Rotting on Ice Mountain.
