Windows not going up all the way after shutting door

Hi all,

We have a 2 door hard top Big Bend.

Ya know how the window goes down slightly when you open the doors...our driver side window wouldn't go back up all the way after the door was shut.

Husband calls the dealership and he instructs him how to "reset" the window by putting it down all the way and hold it down until you hear a click, then putting it up all the way and holding it there until you hear a click. this would reset the window???

He did that, heard no clicks but now it's working correctly again. Worried if this will be an issue going forward.

Caveat, when we first picked her up, the passenger side window motor was broken and had to be replaced, so we're a little gun-shy LOL

I've heard that this is the fix, and I would try it. I have not had to use it, until recently. Back window on driver's side comes right back down when you hit the button for it to go up - gets to the top and it comes right back down. So, I tried this trick on Sunday and I can't. I can hold it down, but when it is time to hold it when it is up, the window comes right back down while I'm holding the button.
Then, the front passenger window started doing this 2 days ago. But, now the back window is working.

Most likely not the switch. My husband thinks that there is a module for the windows that control the part where they drop and go back up when opening and closing the doors.

With all of the electronics on these, I expect that there will be little "what the heck is that" and then it is gone. I will start worrying when the warranty expires.

seems like there was a reset on window limit for this, but cant find the thread about it. Might try searching here or googling it...
I dont think it was a big deal for a reset.

Roll the window down all the way.
Roll it back up, hold the button for 5 seconds after it goes up.
Then roll it down and hold the button for 5 seconds after it is all the way down.

This should do it.
Follow me on instagram. lol.

Here are the full instructions from the Owner's Manual:

Resetting One-Touch Close
Carry out all steps within 30 seconds of
starting the sequence.
1. Fully open the window.
2. Lift and hold the window control until the window is fully closed. Keep the window control held for a two seconds
3. Press and hold the window control until the window is fully open. Keep the
window control pressed for two
seconds.
4. Lift and hold the window control until the window is fully closed. Keep the window control held for a two seconds
Note: Repeat the procedure if the window does not close when you use one-touch.

Same issue with my driver door. We had heavy rains this year and water would come through. There is a spot of upholstered metal on the door side of the driver seat that has rusted because of that. Dealer cannot seem to fix it, or it comes and goes.

This could be a defective door latch. The window drop down/up is controlled by a switch in the door latch. See the 1st few seconds of this video.

All 4 windows working properly today. Go figure.

I've only had mine for a week, but the windows are annoying. There is more wind noise in the Bronco then my JK, and I attribute it to the doors with no upper frame. They don't seal as well. The noise I had in the JK was more road then wind. I would like to see the numbers for folks that take the doors off, and of that number how many are taken off away from home. I was told that's why they made the frame less door, so they were easier to store. The up and down every time you open and close is a pain. IMO

This has been happening a lot to me lately. (5 times this week!) I called the dealer and she said that I needed to leave Paul at the dealer for about a week before they could get to it. Said if I didn't want to do that I could shop another dealer (Randal Reed Planet Ford, Humble, TX). I called Ford Motor Company and the lady said that they have not had any complaints. She said she would file a report. Keep in mind she NEVER asked me what the issue was! Complain to Ford! 800-392-3673. Holding the window buttons in each direction for 10 seconds seems to reset it but mine have been happening more often.

Hi there. This window concern doesnā€™t sound like something we want you to experience with your Bronco. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

My driver door had to have a module replaced and the passenger rear now hits the top a drops all the way down. Reset donā€™t work and Iā€™m going on a 3500 mile trip back home in a few weeks and itā€™s very annoying. Lost faith in dealers years ago and Iā€™ve been reassured as why just recently when they had it for 6 wks and still didnā€™t fix a parasitic draw somewhere. I believe I found it and itā€™s the acm. In that 6 wks they replaced driver window mod, battery, alternator, front drive shaft, rear diff seal and something else I canā€™t recall. Fords QC and all the other distributors sucks monkey nuts. My Dana rear axle plug welds look like a blind monkey did them and Iā€™m just waiting to twist a tube. Never again Ford will I buy anything from ya. 21 blk diamond2.3 with under 20k by the time I return will be up for sale when I return to MI.

I had this happen after reinstalling my door, and it was the connector not connected 100%. Slight push and a click and it was fine.

That suxā€¦. Diffs are actually a Dana product and not welded by Ford but i do understand your frustration and canā€™t say I blame you. šŸŽ

Definitely not making excuses for the primary manufacturer but when suppliers as well as end item assemblers do batch inspections, 1 in xx number, stuff slips through. I have dealt with issues as well whether it was Ford or Jeep and even Toyotaā€¦ itā€™s frustrating as hell especially when we spend so much of our hard earned money on something we want and it ends up being a šŸ’© show. Sometimes we have to adjust the dope and fire again. Hope all works out for you! šŸŽ
