Driving RT422 to work on Monday I was in the passing lane getting ready to go around a tri-axil hauling a crawler dozer when it hit a pothole. A rock fell off bounced a hit windshield in passenger side corner, result a nice chip and a 4 inch vertical crack. Having owned 3 Wranglers in my life this was no big deal, stopped at the home depot bought the old Epoxy-resin and little squeegee and did 2 coats figuring I was good for a while (worked on 2 cracks on JK). Today Friday was our coldest night so far this summer 44 degrees when i left, as I drove down the road with the defrost on I literally watched this crack make a hard left and crawl right across the windshield, never seen anything like that before.

Anyway went online with safelight 3 weeks out before they can repair, and for those wondering the out of pocket with no insurance price was $1400 I use Erie Ins and my out of pocket is $250:)

Also I would like to give a shout-out to @PhillyCat for his find in another post

For protecting the windshield, I bought one of these kits: https://www.grab-gard.com/products/ford-bronco-windshield-protection-kit

I will definitely be giving this a try!!

Yeah with all the easily cracked windshields I've seen on bronco I went with $0 comprehensive deductible on the bronco that covers windshield. My friends bronco is on the 4th windshield in a year

It may be too late, but you should have recourse against Meyers construction. Worth a try. They may have insurance or an expenditure item for these things.

Wow, same story and almost exact same chip and crack location for me as well! Caught a rock and by the time I got to a chip repair it had cracked up about six inches so they couldn't fix it, then a couple of mornings later the crack took a sharp turn toward the driver side and the noise and watching it crack was something else...

This won't help you now, but everyone should keep a bottle of some sort of chip repair at home.

Case in point. Caught a rock over the summer, cracked windshield. Took over a month to get replacement in. Had windshield replaced on a friday, then on monday when returning to work, caught another rock. New windshield lasted me 3 days. I was slow to get any type of chip repair as crack was a few inches, and I was pissed I broke another. Couple more days, I get some Rain-X chip repair, fill the crack, let the sun do it's thing, and that crack hasn't moved since that day. Saved me from having to replace again, I'll drive this way for awhile, crack isn't in my line of sight anyways.

Good advice, I'll be doing that once I have my new windshield!
