Temp sensor going crazy

So today in western Pa when it was about 30 degrees, my Bronco decided it was 129 degrees & wouldn't run heat unless I set it to full HI temp.
Anyone know if there's like a software glitch or is it just a bad sensor that needs changed?

I've read about several similar issues, bad sensor 95% of the time.

That's what I was afraid of.
Thanks for the input

I literally just had this a couple weeks ago. Pretty sure I posted on here somewhere.

Anyways, it's like a $6 sensor. It's located in the driver's side mirror. Make sure you have a pick to depress the button to unplug it. Otherwise all you need is a screwdriver/pry tool to pry it out. Lastly, disconnect the batter when you do it so it "hopefully" resets on it's own and you don't need to take it to a Ford dealer to have them reset it. I'll go find my post and link it here.

Like I said, it's a real simple fix, and the part is super cheap.

Thanks- I was on my phone at an event so I didn't really have great searching abilities.
Interestingly, it was fine for the entire drive home & again this morning.
But given the simplicity of the fix, I'll probably just swap it out ahead of any more issues

Mine started out as only like 10 degrees above actual temperature. Did that for about a week, next thing I know it was reading in the 100 degree + range. Only thing that sucked about it was, if you go to warm up your truck in the morning or whenever, well it decides to blast the A/C, so I figured it'd be best to fix it now.

Wait, it isn't 129 degrees in Pennsylvania in February? Now my whole knowledge of geography and winter is blown out. I shall return to 2nd grade with my 8 year old. I'll update y'all on what I learn. 😀

/end sarcasm

I've bookmarked the linked post with the parts and such, because my luck will be now that I've read this thread. It will break.

Hi there! I can look into your Bronco's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Bronco's VIN?

It's ok @Ford Motor Company , I already told OP the fix for this. Then again, I guess it's up to OP whether he wants to pay 6 bucks out of pocket, or take his Bronco (assuming under warranty) to a dealer so he can spend half the day waiting for them to do a 5 minute repair. 🙈 🙉 🙊

Lol. I'm definitely just gonna do it myself.
I bought my Bronco used so no warranty for me. And the nearest dealer I actually trust is like an hour away. I try to avoid dealerships if at all possible.

Interestingly, it hasn't acted up again since the initial time, but I figure if it's happened once, it will again, so I'm gonna get the part ordered

Unless your Bronco is older than 3 years/36K miles, it still has a warranty, as the warranty is transferrable. (5/60K for the powertrain, but this part would be covered under the 3/36).

Yeah I know what 3/36 is.
I currently have 46k miles.

Saul Goodman. You wouldn't believe how many people have no idea what the warranty is or how it works.

Similar to how Ford THOUGHT a 3yr./36k mile would be good for a "NEW" vehicle. Well, I guess it was good for them. I've already had a shock rot out at 42k miles.

I just had this happen to me as well, had to get the sensor replaced. Strange that it seems to be happening to all of us 2021 owners at around the same time. I have only a few months left on my warranty.
