So I was at the dealership today getting routine maintenance on the Bronco. My service advisor, informed me that there was an advanced notice recall regarding the Sasquatch, Bilstein shocks. Mind you this is an advanced notice of recall, but one is coming. The recall information as follows: #25S01. Let‘s see how long this takes.

Ford should just offer us some money to use for new shocks. Then we can all get what we want. I know it won’t be much but it would help.

So I was hoping to get a couple of more trips out of Nag before Ford finally would get the replacement shocks. But alas, no. While at work I left Nag for an oil change/works package inspection and a five tire rotation. While out delivering a car my service gal called and informed me that both rears are leaking. She was clueless that there was a recall with no fix. While driving home I got a tire pressure sensor fault on one of the tires and upon parking I noticed that they rotated the tires the wrong way. Do any of these young adults know what clockwise/counter clockwise are? Gotta call Ford help line and see if I can get a little help on this one. I have two trips in the next two months and one involves towing my trailer to Colorado. Looks like I am gonna have to get that new suspension I have been looking at.

I only “liked” this because your remark about getting a “new” suspension suggests that it will also be an upgrade to the factory Bilstein setup. 🤓
Chris here. I drive a 2-door Velocity Blue 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands with Sasquatch, Lux, a 2.7L V6, and an automatic transmission. It’s fun.

I did in fact pull the trigger and ordered a set of new coil overs and UCA’s. Hopefully here this coming week. For those of you who have done a suspension upgrade and had someone install them for you, what did it cost to get the work done. And if you don’t want to air your business here on the thread feel free to send me a PM. Thanks in advance, Tim

I am in Michigan! Salt country!! I lost both of my rear shocks last summer. When the first one went in June, I had the dealership order a second one because they were on back order at the time. First one covered under warranty, paid for the second one. Couldn’t do any offroading all summer. I didn’t even like driving it because it was all over the road with bumps. Replaced in October. Sure enough, the other side was replaced two weeks later!!! Hoping the new ones last long enough for Colorado.

I’m still on my originals but they haven’t shown any issue thus far… Seattle to Colorado and back will tell the tale, me thinks…

My son told me mine were leaking and I took it in and my dealership told me that Ford was ok with how much they were leaking and that it was normal. Took it out a different dealership to have some skid plates installed and the master tech said “hey, your shocks are leaking, that’s not normal!” I said well my dealership said Ford was ok with it, he pushed and got the passenger side replaced under warranty.

As @Laura said in another thread, the shock recall is now being released. And you might not like it.

If your rear shocks haven't failed, your fix is some glue and clamp of some sort. You only get replacement shocks if yours have fully failed.

My Ford app is already updated and telling me to come in for my fix.

Pleaseeeeeeeee don't get me started on this... Posted in another thread.
Ford wasted my time this week on this recall stuff... My B sat for half the day only for them to not have the part.

My dealer found my fail yesterday and I have an inspection appt. scheduled for Aug. 18. They could get me in sooner but I don't feel right doing Woodward and the BN activities in a Jeep, ha.

It kind of bothers me that you didn't feel any difference to the driving characteristics when your shock failed that hard. Are the OEM Bilsteins really that bad? Or maybe the roads in Michigan are that bad? ;)

I plan to replace my shocks after Super-cel west. So as long as they hold on till then I should be good.

In case others run into this: My dealer already told me they will need to order the shocks (they won't stock for this), but @Stonekoldk says Brighton Ford has been getting parts quickly. Based on past service at my dealership, I'm expecting up to a couple weeks to have mine remedied all in all, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I'm also used to broke down XJs with worse problems, so the Bronco continues to feel like a dream no matter what 😂 I just drove the Bronco back three hours from the sand dunes and didn't have anything to feel concerned about (and trust me, I'm used to turning down the music at all sorts of sounds and feelings and sniffing intensely at weird smells thanks to those cherokees).

I like a firm ride, so the Bilsteins have made me happy. I was about to order 6112s, then Aly D. let me know the recall update was out. I still will finish my research and planning since I'm at 30k and will need front eventually. Then I'll do all four.

Of course the fix is out, just late enough that I had to replace mine before going out on my two big trips this month!🤣
I am hoping that I can get some form of reimbursement on the install of my new shocks I just put on. But based on all of my previous interactions with Ford, I’m not holding my breath. The good news is that I am pretty sure I will never have to replace these.

Having read most, but not all the posts, if my shocks fail 6 months to a year from now I'm just plain SOL?

I was going to order some Bilsteins for my F-150. Guess I need to keep looking.

Thanks for the info.

Hard pass on this silly Band-Aid 🩹.
I can’t wait for Ford’s fix for my fuel pump. Maybe a straw, hose clamp and some RTV sealant. 😡

Bilstein reps have said that their OEM Shock manufacturing and engineering are totally different divisions than their aftermarket. Not sure I would rule them out because of this debacle but of course that's your call.

I chuckled at the instruction in step 8 to use a popsicle stick to smooth the edges of the glue. I didn't know my Ford Extended Service Plan had an arts & crafts section.

I think it is still worth it to try. Did you or Ford document the failed shocks? Do you still have the pics? I've heard other people have some success with this.

Yes the dealership found they were leaking at my last service and I called the Bronco help line and got a case number. So we will see what happens. 🤣👍🏼

I decided to check my shocks today And on the other forum, some one posted their shocks, which looks like mine. From what I read/saw on the recall fix, what they have been doing to the 23/24s is the same fix, at least from the basic looks of it.

When I get enough money saved, I will replace them all. Never own a vehicle where the shocks suck, and they are worse than the military’s.
