So I was at the dealership today getting routine maintenance on the Bronco. My service advisor, informed me that there was an advanced notice recall regarding the Sasquatch, Bilstein shocks. Mind you this is an advanced notice of recall, but one is coming. The recall information as follows: #25S01. Let‘s see how long this takes.

This is not limited to Sasquatches. I just checked my 21, Badlands non sas, i’m on the recall. I had the right rear replaced over a year ago for leaking reservoir. The dealer fought tooth and nail saying it was the axle speed sensor leaking. Being a mechanic for 40 years, I knew they were wrong. But I relented on the condition; if they were wrong I was going to kick the service manager til he was dead. They changed the sensor, I drove it around the parking lot at the dealer, parked it on the sidewalk in front of the door of service and waited for someone to come out and look at my leaking shock. The service manager was understandably unavailable for the day. They had to order the shock! I had an appointment for a week for a “shock leak” and didn’t bother to make sure they had a part on hand. 2weeks later they got the part. Brought it in . No leaks since. No service manager . That’s why ford service is so bad.
You are correct. Any Badlands or Sasquatch vehicles have these “upgraded” Bilstein shocks. As @EvlNvrDys said above, this should have been addressed a while ago. As in two years ago.

Quick hack…. Once you find your window sticker, take a picture of it and save it on your phone… I’ll bet I refer to mine a couple times a month…

Good call! That's what I do with my insurance card as well. It never fails that my insurance app will stay logged in for 10 years straight and then logs me out and doesn't like my password when I need it.

I have had this before with my Cobalt the fuel lines from the fuel pump degraded and started leaking I replace the fuel pump with lines at 140K miles about 6 months later they had a recall about that and said if I could give them the receipts for the parts and labor they would refund me. unfortunately I did the work myself and I tossed the receipt months before that.

Well…we’re gonna find out sooner than later what happens if one fails between now and Q3. I noticed I was feeling that squirrelly sensation again, but on the left side this time. Sure enough…

I feel sorry for someone that bought these as “take offs” and installed these on their Bronco thinking they were an upgrade.
They are SOL…

After seeing this thread and posting about my horrible experiences with a dealer. Not my delivery dealership. I decided to look at the other side. The good news is no corrosion. The bad news…..there’s no corrosion.

Well the good part is the the CEO of Ford is going to take away 65% of the leaders bonus checks this year because of the poor quality. I would think common sense would say your bonus is based on the level of anything below 75% is NO CHECK.

The stock shocks on my non Sas Badlands always felt squirrelly, especially off-road, so I replaced them after they only had about 5K miles on them. I am now thinking mine might have been defective from the factory but can't say for sure..

Mine looked fine when they were replaced but I never felt comfortable off-roading with them. Minor washboards would send the Bronco flying all over the place.

Fingers crossed yours last until they can be replaced but if it were me, I'd just spring for an upgrade and call it a day.

I vote that all those affected get Raptor grade retrofits on the company dime. 🤓

Pretty sure BILSTEIN is on the hook for this recall. The Ford service departments are the benefactor. I’m worried about the fronts. May have to replace them depending on what Ford is planning for the back replacements.

I wondered about that too. I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the room at Ford. The conversation would be illuminating.

I know nothing about shock absorbers. But if the problem involves corrosion between the shock and its external reservoir, wouldn't it be practical to integrate the two?

I am curious how Ford will remedy this and who will ultimately pick up the tab for the corrective actions that follow. Whoever is responsible, you've got to know they're going to spend as little money as necessary to fix this.

Here we go... Notice was within the app and they've mailed one as well.
Just off the phone with our dealership.. They advised to wait for a second recall letter advising that the replacement part is in -- sometime around the third quarter of the year/this Fall..

Update: Don Hinds Ford in Indianapolis is refusing to do anything until there is an “official” fix. So now I have to waste a bunch of my own time making a stink every damn place I can, to get them to do something that should be common sense.

The amount of stupidity with some of these dealerships is fffffing mind boggling! Your shock needs to be replaced! Get a replacement one on and when the fix is announced, replace them both again! They have the wording in the announcement. Mine aren’t leaking, so they can wait for the fix. Your second one has now failed, so they should temporarily replace yours with one of the OEM Bilsteins. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE
@nrlucas take a look at post #10 above. This is what was sent to the dealerships. They should be contacting SSSC for direction on your case. Not sure what the acronym stands for. Otherwise they should provide you a loaner vehicle. This is insanity
