hood release lever fell off can't open hood

Hey Bronco enthusiasts,

About 2 weeks ago my hood release lever fell off randomly and I just placed it back and it still opened the hood after two pulls. A few days ago I tried to open the hood and it stopped working.

I am going to bring it to the dealership Monday but was curious on what caused it? Has this happened to anyone else?

Yikes! Going forward, I’m going to be very careful about pulling on that handle. 😬

It's plastic and inferior. Those are my thoughts.
