Hard Top Squeak

Hey all!

I know there are a lot of hard top squeaking posts out there, but I couldn't find the one appropriate for my situation, so I'm hoping someone can either help with this issue, or help point me in the right direction.

I have a loud squeak on the right side of the top, bottom corner where it meets the back seat. Video included. In the video, I'm not putting much pressure to cause the squeak. So every time I hit a bump or dip, this squeak is loud in the cabin. I do have a TrailRax rack with side pax, so I have the bracket for that mounted under the hard top... not sure if that's part of the problem. I did make sure all hard top mounting bolts are tight. This has been driving me nuts for months and I've already tried all the suggestions for the rear glass squeak, cleaning the rubber seals, etc... any ideas?

Don't know about that TrailRax mount's effect, but was impressed how well a good gasket cleaning and application of silicone lube worked for us.

I have looked at getting a half round (domed) piece of rubberized gasket to slide up into that space between the C pillar and that vertical part of that rear roof cap. To go straight up from where you are pushing in your video. I know that this can be an area of wind intrusion. I can’t remember right off hand the size you could fit .

@TommyCO I suggest some felt tape LIKE THIS at the connection points for that specific noise.

I bought some 1/2" round weatherstrip to put in there...turns out there is a huge void there. I pushed almost 12' of that weatherstrip in EACH side. It helped wind noise a lot but still looking for something different. Crazy-12' on each side!

I wonder if the void is different between the 2 door and 4 door clam-shell?

Had Jeeps for 25 years. Never needed a can of spray to stop the tops from squeaking or leaking! Just sayin. Would have thought this would be a no brain er for Ford to create a hard top.

I did not remove any trim panels nor the 3M tape on the back of the rubber piece.
I gently inserted the rubber piece into the gap, and it has reduced wind noise.

I dunno about that.. I was a Jeep CJ then Wrangler guy from 1985 until I purchased my Bronco in 2023.. Almost every Jeep I have ever owned with a removable hard top has had squeaks and / or leaks.

These utility vehicles with removable tops are always going to be somewhat problematic..

Yeah, we had a Jeep CJ hardtop too. My memory's really bad so maybe wrong, but I don't remember our Jeep's hardtop having 2 removable roof panels for front seat passengers and another panel for backseat riders on 4 door models. It was a single piece assembly.

We love Bronco's removable top panels, they're so easy!! The occasional minute or 2 I spend cleaning & lubing it's gaskets is NO BIG DEAL!!

Cheers
