ANOTHER UPDATE. I originally posted this problem in October and here it is December and I decided to keep the hard top and vinyl wrap it.
The process with Ford and dealer started off quick and easy. The hard top was shipped to dealer within a week and I got a call to bring it in for a swap. When I got to the dealer, my service rep told me they would have to drill and bore holes to remove top??? Then he remembered it was a hard top😮 . But, apparently it would take a week to dismantle glass and arrange to have new glass replaced. I didn't count on that so I told him to re-schedule. My new date for fix - late January 2023. Yikes, they are one busy Ford dealer - must be a ton of Ford vehicles needing service😀 . I got one more text last week giving me an hour or so to bring it down and get a loaner Mustang, but I didn't have time.
In the meantime, I contacted my Ford Customer service person that originally opened warranty claim and requested compensation for top instead of having Ford replace. She countered with covering the cost of renting loaner car or paying one month loan payment while Bronco was in service😖 .
After hearing horror stories of Ford service departments, having to wait 3 months for an appointment, and not getting any satisfaction from Ford Corp. I decided to simply vinyl wrap the hard top to cover the imperfections. The wrap cost $200 and I've asked Ford Customer Service to reimburse, but my contact has since stopped sending me back any emails. Christmas vacation?????
Kudos to Ford for trying, but I decided to keep it simple. The warranty claim is still open, so if the vinyl wrap gets funky if the top worsens, I'll revisit.
