Ok. This parking brake thing is weird. Didn't know I needed to know how to use it. The switch says to pull. So I pull it. Didn't see or hear anything happen. So I pull harder. Next thing I know I see pieces fall on the floor. Can I fix this? Or do I need to save the pieces for the dealer? Happen to anyone else?

Happens a lot. Now you know.

It's electric so it's just a switch, pulling harder just breaks it.

On my 22 Basesquatch, the parking brake switch is "pulled" to engage. I recently drove a 23 OBX. The parking brake switch was "pushed" to engage. That threw me off at first. I did not know a change was made.

The "Park Brake Applied" notification, which comes up instantly in gauge cluster, is pretty hard not to not see.

I’m not a fan of the electric parking brake. As someone that uses the parking brake every time I have had it not engage when pulled(MY22) and have had it not disengage when pushed. This has happened on different vehicles not just the Bronco. At least with a mechanical brake I know it is set or disengaged.

‘23 Wildtrak and mine is pull to engage, push to release. However, you can also release the brake by putting the Bronco’s transmission in drive and tapping the gas. It will release automatically, at least mine does. Some F150 are like this too. Our safety guys at work hate this feature.

In my Bronco if engaged and I try to move with it engaged, mine will disengage once i give it enough gas in Drive

Plus the electric brake can't be used to over ride an open differential and force power to both wheels.

I've used this trick on occasion, much to the amazement of those stuck.

The brake system does that automatically now.

The first time I ever used mine, I heard it actuate the caliper motors, the brake pedal sunk a tiny bit, and the two brake notifications came up on the gauge cluster. I'm not sure how more it can be obvious the parking brake is on.

That's a terrible idea, when do we start?

You need electric if you want to have features like Trail Turn Assist, etc. I know, all these new fangled modern conveniences are annoying ... this whole horseless carriage thing, for example! LOL

Yes it will do it automatically but when you depress the pedal and push the button and it doesn’t disengage it is not ideal. I have to say it seems to do it more in our Chevys the Silverado is just a button but the Camaro and equinox is like the Bronco just on the center consul. But it has happened in the bronco a few times.

I have to open three gates in about a half mile to get out of our place. I am not looking at lights. I don’t have to look at my hand brake on my cobalt I just pull it and jump out to get the gate.

Yes I agree, I have used Trail turn 1 time and will probably never use it again but I use the parking brake about 10-12 times a day. I am used to driving manual transmission ( I drive one every day) I will not get out of the car without setting the brake.

Hi there! I can look into your bronco's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your bronco's VIN?

I was looking at /going to test drive a 2D bronco in may of '22' before I got mine in Sept. '22' . anyway I and dealer/salesman hop in the bronco and started it , the brake light was on and I pulled the lever switch and it didn't disengage so the salmon said pull harder , I did and it came apart LOL at that time I and him were concerned and tried to fix it . then he said Don't worry about it the service department will fix it . so I never got my test drive cause the brake was still engaged.
apparently the saleman did not know the features and neither did I at that time. went back in and sale guy told the manger I broke it and they were talking about me paying for it. I told them hell no I'm not paying for it this guy told me to pull harder . and I walked out. sorry bunch of AZZ holes . never went back.
