2022 Bronco Sport Badlands brake noise when in reverse.

My Baby Bronco has been into my Ford dealership twice for a terrible noise when I backup. This seems to occur when it is cold and when it is wet....I live in the great PNW and that occurs often! So far they have done the Ford Fix of replacing calipers and pins....that didn't work, I went to pick up my car at the dealership shop and they parked the car outside, it was raining, I back out and apply the brakes and it groaned so loudly. The mechanic ran out and said "well that didn't work!" I made another appointment and they researched the situation and came up with removing the glaze from the rotors and dusting the brake pads. I started the car next morning, after it had rained all night and the noise was still there. I have given it a few days and the noise is still there....after a car wash, rain or even after it has been over night in a garage it still occurs. I will take it back to my dealer...Kelleher Ford in Ellensburg Washington. Does anybody else have any suggestions? This is frustrating and for a new car it is unacceptable.

I have a 2022 Bronco Sport - Big Bend edition. Same exact situation. When it is cold or wet the brakes are very loud when you first back up especially. It's embarrassing at work when everyone sees you getting in your new car and it sounds like the brakes are broken or should have been replaced years ago. I also tried fixing it through the dealership. No effect. I don't know if 2023 Bronco Sports have this same unfixable defect that our dealerships can't figure out. If you do find an answer please pass it along.

My wife’s ‘22 Sport Badlands does the same thing. Had dealer look at it and they said that, now that they don’t use asbestos, this is “normal”. I say BS. They said it was safe and couldn’t do anything.
I heard that there is a service bulletin out for this now. Can anyone confirm?

I am surprised that FORD even tried to address this issue. It is not uncommon in damp weather to have brake noise when backing up in the first couple of stops until you get the moisture off the rotors. My 22 Outer Banks full size Bronco does this on wet mornings. This is not considered to be a problem and has no effect on performance of the brakes. Not all cars do it, but in the 15 years I spent @ FORD and the 23 years owning a shop, we see this every week. It has alot to do with the climate you live in and the composition of the brake pads. I would be surprised that replacing the pads and rotors with factory parts would fix this ever. If it bothers you try replacing the pads with a aftermarket part such as
Raybestos Element3 PART #EHT1833H it may help. Wagner makes a pad called OEX that is also a great product, but they haven't came out with a part number for the Bronco Sport yet.

@Ford Motor Company
I have the same issue on my wife’s Sport. Not just when it’s wet but always. We live in Phoenix AZ area so it’s usually very dry. Dealer basically told me that the brakes are safe so don’t worry about it. Much like @AutumnHawk said, it’s very embarrassing when your friends are with you, admiring your new vehicle and then you start backing and you have to explain that that horrible noise is “normal” according to the dealer. It’s a damn new car and shouldn’t be doing that! I’m tired of trying to find a parking spot where I can pull through so I don’t have to get those strange looks in parking lots.

I was told this same thing from my dealer service department. Basically to make the brakes more "envirmentally freindly" that component was taken out. I was told that Ford has a new material in the breaks and you'll get an alert via Ford app / email / Snail mail when its your turn to get the brake bads swapped. I have a '21 and still havnt received a notice.

TSB #22-2326. Dated 8-17-2022. They replace rear bushing kit. I have attached copy of the TSB
My Ford Dealer has performed the TSB replacement twice now and problem as bad as ever! The dealer said there is nothing else they can do until the factory comes out with a fix that works. This has been going on since I purchased the vehicle in April 2022. Very annoying and embarrassing to say the least with this high pitched squealing coming from brand new car.

I have a 2022 Ford Bronco Sport, Outer Banks Edition, with only 6,100 miles on it. I have had this brake squealing now for 6 months. It's definitely louder in reverse, but also happens at slow stops. I have taken it to our dealership Auto Nation Ford in Torrance, they tell me they know of the problem but do not have the parts to fix it. I reached out to Ford today and they acted like this problem doesn't exist. Neither hte dealership or Ford can they give me an estimate on when they will have the parts. I have filed an offical complaint the NHTSA and gave them the TSB #22-2326 to review.

I have had this issue with brakes making loud squealing noise since I purchased the vehicle in April 2022. Ford has installed TSB 22-2326 twice and same issue. It is not just when it is wet or cold. This happens on warm sunny days. My original dealer, after install the first TSB twice, said nothing they can do till factory comes up with a fix. I have since moved to NC and checked in with local Ford dealer here. They say that there is now another TSB #23-2041 but same story as above in that dealer cannot get the new TSB because its on backorder with no estimate on when they will have it. I have contacted Ford Customer relations several times, most recently last week and still have no resolution to this, now 2 year problem. Now I'm stuck in that I can't sell it with this issue as would take massive hit in resale value. It really sucks because I love the exterior and interior look and features on the Bronco Sport. Can't believe the manufacture cannot or won't do what's necessary to fix this problem.
