You can option the skid plate on the Wildtrak. Or you could when I bought my Wildtrak. Tossed them and added actual skid plates. (kept the front one)
Put it in 4 lo. Turn on the lockers. Bam. Rock crawl mode.
If you want the "throttle control," then lean your foot up against the tunnel for more control.
I'm not even being a smart ass, totally serious.
The GOAT modes are more than just pre-selecting 4WD modes and differential locking. You can definitely feel the steering response, throttle response, transmission shift-holding, etc. with different modes. I'm sure you were aware of that, but I think it's important for those newer to Bronco to understand what GOAT modes can do for them. They're also not a bad way to learn which features are ideal for specific situations. Select the GOAT mode for your situation and notice what features are selected.
I forget which modes affect throttle and transmission response and cameras. Maybe Laura can do a cool graphic that correlates each feature with each mode. š

Of course. I was just explaining that not having Rock Crawl mode isn't that bad. I would TOTALLY miss Sport mode. :)

Magnificent images, the Subaru especially.
I have hundreds of photos, hours of vids. Here's a few.

This is an old graphic from 2022 - not 100% sure of its origin or authenticity but seems reasonableā¦

I would agree in not understanding why Badlands donāt have āSport Modeā out of the factory⦠The Wildtrak seems to aim for a different buyer that any of the other trim levels. I didnāt pay as much attention as perhaps I should have when I bought OB-1 (23 Outerbanks Sasquatch with 2.7) to the hero switches, and so mine does not have the sway bar disconnect. I also donāt have either Baja or Rock Crawl modes, but I may add Rock Crawl once I finish armoring the bottom more fully. The Wildtrak always seemed like an odd configuration to me...90% of the way to full off-roader, lockers without the disconnecting sway bar or rock crawl mode. I guess you could say it's the "top of line rally version". What I don't understand is why the Badlands doesn't get Sport mode from the factory. BostonBadlands mentioned the extra weight...is there more detail on why that's a restriction? I have the manual transmission, so shift point don't seem to apply to me any way.
I find I use ECO more than any other mode in daily running around, but if some Jeep pulls up next to me and want to play Sport Mode provides me with all the excitement my 67 year old heart can handle⦠SUPER FUNā¦.

I added Rock crawl on my Wildtrak, and I like using it. I thought all that was going to be kind of gimmicky, but I like the adjustments it makes to the steering, breaking and shift points. Itās worth doing the forscan work to add it in.
I have been out quite a bit with mine and have only added the shock skids just yet, cause thatās where I would catch stuff. Full skids are in the books for the spring, but so long as you are thinking about where you are putting your wheels and what is exposed and where i wouldnāt let the lack of skids be a bar to getting out on a trail or two. A dirty muddy dusty Bronco is a happy Bronco.
From what I found out the 2024 wild track is supposed to already have skid plates. So it goes back to the question why does it not come with Rock crawl mode? I guess I really donāt need it. All I have to do is lock in both lockers put in four wheel low disconnect the sway bar. Just seemed kind of weird to me. Thatās all. I do not have a regular PC computer. I use Apple so I guess fortran doesnāt work For me. But thank you very much for your time and help. I appreciate it.

I think it only came with the front metal skid plate- This one is plastic on some of the other trims. It is not the full skids that are on the Badlands. You could option those, but they weren't standard.
I think there is an apple version to get forscan, but I dont know that for certain. I would see if there is anyone around you who has forscan already, and make the change. There is other value in forscan (like turning on the dreaded double-honk) that makes it worth while, IMHO.

Yeah- we are a Mac family, but I have a crappy old windows laptop I need for my work email and I have all my programming stuff on that- forscan, chirp, radio stuff. It easier to work, and it lets me keep a little electronic separation from home stuff and things that are touching web stuff like say the forscan website where the ownership is very sketch. There are workarounds that allow one to run windows (and therefore forscan) on a Mac, but its no where near as easy as on a Windows machine⦠I had to invest in a cheap Windows laptop to run some cnc router software that was windows only, so I only needed to add the scanner⦠Have only used it once, to program Oracle taillightsā¦

Or, just hook it to your laptop with ForScan, punch a couple of buttons, and *poof*, you have all the GOAT modes. Iām not being a smart ass, Iām totally serious. š

I've heard that messes with the warranty.
Did you read any further in the thread than that post?

It does not mess with the warranty. Yes, I read further, but maybe I missed something?

Oracle makes a free product called Virtual Box. I used it and installed For[d]Scan and ran it from there. It works fine. It's a minor bit of extra effort. It's actually a lot less effort than it currently seems to be getting a license (free or paid) from the ForScan people due to the embargoes.

The 2024 clearly shows the bash plates option is included for your reference

Tim- I think we are talking past each other. The Bash plate is just the front bit from the bumper to right under the motor. On some models this bit is plastic, but it is steel on the Wildtrak. The 2024 clearly shows the bash plates option is included for your reference
I think what most people refer to as full skid plates is this-
This is was an option on the wildtrak (indeed all the broncos) but not standard. This covers the transmission and all those bits further back- transmission, transfercase and the fuel tank on the 4 doors. This is what I was talking about when I said is was an option.
The full vehicle plates are nice, but like I said, I only have the front one on my wildtrak. I will probably get full skids this spring, but they shouldnt keep you off the trails. They certainly havent me.
Now, if you want to open a real can of worms, let's talk about whether Aluminum or steel is better for the skids. š

Thanks, like usual I did not understand. My ignorance. Steel is obviously much stronger than aluminum but weighs quite a bit more. So like with everything itās a trade-off.

Its the weight verses the "slide." Steel weighs more, but tends to slide over rocks. Aluminum weighs much less but is more "grabby" with the rocks. Both will protect the stuff that needs protecting. Its really a question about how you are using the truck. If you are on the plates a lot (like doing lots of hard core rock crawling) then I think it makes sense to take the weight penalty and go with the steel. If you are not doing that and going with the plates to keep an oops from becoming a broken transmission pan, then It might be okay to go with aluminum ones. Just depends on your use case.
All that said, I really like the design of the aluminum ones from ASFIR, but Im not 100% sold just yet. Probably a game time decision later on this spring.

I am not sure what Iām gonna do. I want to use my bronco to pull my little teardrop trailer back into the woods to camp. But I go through a lot of trees and have to push over brush and sometimes a bunch of rocks. However, Iām not a rock hound. I just go over rocks when theyāre on my way to get to my camping spot. So Iām not sure what Iām gonna put under mine, if anything. But I really need is some sort of brush bumper in the front. But I do not want to mess up my cameras or my sensors or my radar for my adapter cruise control. Decision decision decision. Thanks again for your help.
I just looked at the skid plates that you mentioned. Man, they seem pretty high price for a chunk of aluminum.
after I wrote this, I was shopping for skid plates. Came across this you might be interested in. https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/BR6SD-GN.html
They have aluminum or steel and a really good price
