Hello Bronco nation,
I'm seeking information on a front mounted winch for my '23 Bronco. I've been an avid fan of off-roading my whole life but I've never purchased or installed a winch on any of my vehicles. I know these new Bronco's have front cameras and I've seen some who offer a camera relocation bracket. Hidden under bumper vs above bumper? Steel cable vs synthetic rope? Brands to trust vs brands to avoid? My Badlands has the heavy duty steel modular bumper on it so it looks like all I need is a mounting bracket besides the winch itself. This would be a great place to start a discussion on winches. Those with real world experience, please share your knowledge here. Thanks, Zack

BodyGuard make one heck of a Bumper with hidden winch and camera relocation and the extra wiring to relocate it. It is a super nice bumper I was thinking of replacing my set up, it gets a little close.
Nice Glades! That is a really sharp bumper from Body guard. Little too pricey for my wallet though.......

This is really helpful, and i see you mounted it beneath the mod bumper…. I have camera and ACC, and this looks like its not an issue for either, true?
There is absolutely no issue with camera or the ACC. That is why I went with this particular setup, I paid for those options, I wanted to be able to use them.

This is awesome! I am actually looking at that same set up, or going with the Badlands winch. How hard was the installation of the hidden winch?
There are some You Tube videos of installation, however I used a local pro because 1. he has a lift which would make this job a ton easier and 2. if he messes it up its on him at the shop.

When I watched the videos the install seemed pretty substantial and I just didn't want to do it my self, also you will need a reciprocating saw and I don't own one.

I checked out the link, it is a nice setup too. Little bit more then I wanted to spend though, with professional installation I think I was in it for just over $1500 and that included the mount, synthetic line winch and full install.

I have a Blend date of 1/17/23 (Yea - Just saw the Modules populate) and I am thinking of either the Rockhard or JCR Winch Bumper. The Rockhard is designed so the ACC does not need to be relocated and the JCR just relocates the ACC a few inches lower. Both have Camera Relocation that retains the washer functionality.

Makes sense, I'll probably do the same and take it to a shop to install it.

Thanks again for sharing it. It looks great and am sure it works great too!

Bummer, I was going to order the Rough Country Hidden Mount, then in the Important Notes it says,
  • Does NOT fit models equipped with a capable bumper.
  • Fits factory modular and plastic bumper types and/or Rough Country's front bumper line.
I have the Capable Bumper, ordered it to get the fog lights. So next move, may get Rough Country's Bumper. Then again, I already have the Westin Winch Bumper, but its out front on top. It's a good looking bumper, just became fond of the hidden winch after seeing this post. Decisions never come easy when you read all the posts on this and the 6G site, information overload. I have several different projects planned, still waiting on my Bronco to arrive, due any time now, it's built, waiting on convoy shipping. There are other hidden mount options to choose from, given a bit more research, I'll find what direction works best. Keep the comments coming people, another idea may pop up.

I would like to see one of these jcr winch plates first hand. I want to run a stand up warn 8274, but they are big. (And tall).

This will most certainly require fabing a mount (which is fine) but I'd like to see one first.

I decided to go with the Rough Country High Mount 12,000 winch instead of the hidden winch. The installation went well. The total time took approximately 4 hours and that included the Mountain2Metal camera relocation kit. I really like the way it turned out.

Harbor Freight has the Badlands 12,000lb winch on sale for $50 off right now. Anyone know when they usually offer a better discount?

Still blows my mind that Ford didn’t have the sense to build a front steel bumper with space for an integrated winch.

the ZR2 Bison I had, had a winch-ready front bumper ... but I still like the Bronco a lot better :)
