Hood latch open warning - need some help

Hood latch warning light for hood not closed stays on when hood is closed. Saw something a while ago about this and what the fix was. Of course I can't recall the forum.
Dealer stating it may not be warranty covered because of a wiring issue with the winch, which I explained was factory installed on my Everglades and Ive been driving it ok for over 2 years.
Has anyone had this issue on other Bronco models and what was the fix? Maybe just replace the latch?
They want to charge 2.5 hours labor and take everything off the front.
