Is the Bronco Sport a better buy than the Bronco??

Interesting video from TFL today that I tend to largely agree with.

To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't give up my Bronco.

BUT... if it made any amount of financial sense at this point I would absolutely trade my Escape AWD for a Bronco Sport. I love my mid-sized Bronco, but the fact of the matter is the Escape makes a lot more sense for the majority of family trips we take, and therefore the majority of the time the Escape is the vehicle I'm driving. However... the Escape is just a little too small for us (largely due to the stupid sloped rear hatch 😤 ), and the Bronco Sport would be nearly perfect.

No doubt the Bronco is the better off-roader. But the Bronco Sport just seems like an all-around better vehicle when you take into account everyday driving, weekend fun, family hauling, operating costs, etc.

(And if I'm being honest 85%+ of the time I'm off-roading, a Bronco Sport Badlands could easily complete the task.)

For me it has proven to possibly be the better buy. I got a well equipped 2023Badlands. That built out at 44k. A 6G Black Diamond with just the automatic is over 46k. I have heated seats and steering wheel. Living in Chicagoland that's a necessity. A 6G BD would be 50k to add any upgrades. For what I want it has delivered. I do most of what the Bronco club 6G's do at the ohv park. So I'm happy.

The sport in a hybrid? I would trade in the escape hybrid in a hot second!

My dealer took a Sport Badlands put a 2 inch lift on it, a set of KO2 tires, some good flaps. It was a nice truck and a bit more capable to go off road. For me not enough back seat room and can't tow much with the Sport.

I'm starting to lean towards a sport. . . are there any 2" lifts available? I'd need it higher, I cant justify paying for a full sized bronco anymore, BUT still want that lifted feel for offsite camping where I've got to go off road and down steep inclines. Presently my Escape cannot make those crawls back up, but a sport could (same will the full sized). Gas is another reason better Mileage per gallon and it would be mostly a city driver anyway. with weekend excusrions...
LOVE the look of the big bronco over the sport, but many things to take into account here, and the sport just seems more economical. . . anyone else struggling with this?

There is a spacer lift for 1.5, a subframe drop for 2.5. Flatout has a coil over setup that I think goes a little higher than 2.5 inched. So there are some options out there. Just not many.

My wife as a BS BL and I have Bronco WT, I like both vehicles but really it's apples and oranges. One is a SUV and the other is a truck. Like comparing the Escape to the Ranger. Buy what is best for you.

My dealer put a 2 inch lift on a Badland Sport, BF KO2 tires, a set of fender flares. It was a loaded truck. Looked great. A friend of mine's daughter bought a Sport Badlands. She siad it's the best she has owned.

My rational side loves the MPGs, ease of parking, quiet ride and great road manners of my Badlands Sport. My irrational side likes the bigger Bronco because I want to feel like a wild 24-year-old again. Either will take me down any trail I want to drive.

It's kind of funny reading these threads, having a foot in both camps I can understand where people are coming from. Most people in the BS forum will go on about how they made the better choice and why would I spend the $$ for a Bronco. In the Bronco forum many people are insulted that the BS has "Bronco" in its name, "it's NOT a Bronco". Ford made a smart marketing choice with the BS, cashing in on the Bronco name. Is it a "Bronco", I always correct people and say its a "Bronco Sport". In the end the BS is really a better looking and more capable (BL) version of the Escape. The Escape is more luxurious and comes in a Hybrid, but let's not fool anyone, the BS is still a SUV like the RAV4, CRV, etc. The Bronco is a truck whose bones are the Ranger. Speaking of the Ranger the new Ranger Raptor looks very tasty.

If you are really on the fence between the two you probably are going to buy a BS. The first time I drove a Bronco I knew that was for me, no vacillating. You don't buy a Bronco for MPG, ride quality or quietness, if those are important than you need to be looking at a BS. No amount of lift kits, fender flares or mud flaps are going to make your BS into a Bronco. I saw a BS with side steps recently, really, side steps, because you are having problems getting in, what are you 3' 9"? Looked really dumb.

It really is a matter of choice and what works best for you.

sorry I hurt your feelings. Thanks for letting me know that I was stepping out of line. We need people like you in the world to keep others inline. Once again, so sorry
Hurt feelings, just tired of the negativity from 6G people on Bronco Nation. We are all just trying to have fun and enjoy our Broncos regardless of variation. But thanks.

Since I own both a Bronco Basesquatch and an Escape Titanium AWD I thought I would chime in. Price aside, the Escape's ability in snow is nothing short of amazing. We went to Mammoth in deep snow and ice a few years ago and that thing was literally unstoppable. The traction control, AWD, and Anti lock brakes worked flawlessly. We felt almost like we weren't even driving on ice and snow. That said, if the Bronco Sport is as good as our Escape then it must be pretty damn good, aside obviously from ground clearance, small tires etc. We live at 3500' where snow occurs every year, not tons, but its the ice that is sketchy. I know we will get home in the Escape no problems, very confidence inspiring.

Sport is a great vehicle. Having buried an F250 on my road in the snow, I would not choose it for my needs. We all need to make that calculation. If the sport fits your needs, go for it. Infighting about it up in here is ridiculous...

Nah its just being honest. The Sport is an Escape with different sheet metal. You can't Escape that.
Na but looks like once again to many people who can only make themselves look good by beating up on something or someone else. You 2 are fine examples why the bronco nation sucks. I'd rather drive my modified Escape that be apart of people like you.

Learn how to take some jokes. It's a forum. No reason to be so sensitive. You don't crack jokes at all in your life? Learn to ease up a bit. Life is far better without a stick up your butt
I take jokes just fine. But there is not a Bronco Sport topic in The Bronco Nation Forum that does not have the same stupid jokes.

The doors and roof are WAY easier to remove on the Bronco versus the Sport...

When I retire, I might look into the full size Bronco. The sport suits my commute right now. I made sure that I got the badlands and that it was more off road capable if I need it. Plus, the girls have their own cars and want nothing to do with us anymore. So, the backseat is just more cargo space!😆

Calm down Sightseer. Do the dimensions of the 1960's Bronco look more similar to the sport or the full size Bronco? That should open some discussion.😆
