What's the current thinking on lift and 37s?

I'm going to hold off on this until January most likely, but I'd like to get a read on what's the current "best" lift/leveling option to go with 37s for true wheeling. We're talking full articulation, not just looking good for the street.

Based on my guesstimate I'm thinking this needs to be 2.5" at minimum and maybe 3.0" plus. But that's just a guesstimate. I'm thinking 2.0" is probably not enough except for street driving.

What's the best kit, is anyone actually wheeling it, etc.

Thanks.

Agree, but at that point you are trailering your rig. :sneaky: As it’s horrible on the highway.:ROFLMAO:

I drive my TJ. It’s fun to drive on the road. Of course just about everything from the hood to the pavement is custom gold-plated stuff. Which helps. Lol.

If you want to just do some basic trails and have the cool look I’d say go for it.

If you want to wheel pretty hard I’d stick with 35’s until the upgraded steering components are available.

At the Nevada Offrodeo we wheeled on some descent trails with the sas package. I was impressed by the clearance we had in the riverbed.

Im amazed how Bronco people act like they are the 1st to wheel IFS lol..
I guess 4Runner, Tacoma, Frontier, Xterra, FJ, Colorado and so on owners need to come learn lol
Ive kept up with many Jeeps on IFS...
Flex is cool but it still takes a driver that knows what they are doing on the trails.

BTW Jeep will be IFS sooner than you think..

Uhhh, no. Lol. That is not happening now, in the near, intermediate or distant future.

Jeep is and will remain committed to the solid front axle. It’s the heritage of the vehicle and built into the DNA of the Wrangler. Not to mention, it’s a level of functionality that IFS will never be able to match. It is not going anywhere.

Look, those other vehicles are all compromise oriented Overland builds. When I say compromise I don’t mean they’re lousy for wheeling. It just means they’re designed to do a number of things pretty well, instead of a handful of things extremely well. The Wrangler is no-compromise and that doesn’t mean it’s better across the board. Just better for hardcore wheeling. Jeep has other products which they can build upon and extend for compromise comfort/capability vehicles.

Agree that drivers still need to know what they are doing on the trail regardless.

I've been hearing that for 30 years. My TJ was going to be the last SFA Jeep, bwahahaha.

Jeep has IFS, but keeps SFA/SRA because they are building the Wrangler as an off road-specific vehicle. Off road the SFA/SRA works better. The reason manufactures (including Jeep) offer the IFS is better ride quality, but not because it can keep up in most off road situations. There is no reason to change the formula that works for Jeep. Offer luxury with IFS, and go-anywhere capability with SFA.

Jeeps are only made to do a "FEW" thing. Longevity is not one of them. Sure, theres a few that have lots of miles. Those are made for longer distance driving and not mountain climbing. Mountain climbers have short lived lives... again....APPLES TO KUMQUATES.

This comment is a candidate for dumbest statement of the year.

First, by “Jeep” do you mean… the Wrangler? You do realize Jeep is a brand? They make a whole lot of vehicles under that name, including the Compass (lol).

Second, of literally all the motorized vehicles made in the course of history, the Wrangler is one of the most robust, toughest, longest lasting trucks ever produced. Wranglers are legendary for being considered “just a baby” at 200,000 miles. They hold value like no other vehicle. A Jeep at 120,00 miles can command a price in the mid to high teens while a similarly priced Chevy or some other average SUV will be worth half that or less. They hold their value because of their toughness.

And you make this comment about longevity… referencing… of all possible vehicles… the one that is among the toughest and longest lived.

You clearly have no clue what you’re talking about. Again!

Yes i did refer to the wrangler. But i guess your the only one that didn't understand. Also, if you were to read the comment in full, you might get the whole point. But then again, I may have high expectations for your ability to understand anything that logical.
So, I'll say it, IFS is the only suspension used in MOST 4x4 races. If solid beam suspensions were better, they would use them. Plus, solid beam suspensions are popular in the general public because it is cheaper and you dont need much intelligence to upgrade or work on them.

The head of Jeep has been quoted saying the Wrangler will go IFS down the road..
I think they will keep a Rubi solid axle but everything else will go IFS in the next 5-6 years.

Oh, yeah, I know. I remember when "head of Jeep" said that in the 1990s. It's probably slated for the next model...hahahaha!!!!

BTW, having the Bronco come out and try to compete directly with the Wrangler, that's solidified the SFA for decades more to come.

https://www.quadratec.com/c/blog/jeep-confirms-ifs-debut-2017-wrangler
There is no reason to have the same model available in vastly different suspension set-ups. What waste of valuable design, engineering and manufacturing dollars. One trim level, the Rubicon with SFA and the same vehicle available with IFS? Nope. That's as stupid as a 2WD Wrangler...oh, wait a minute. It's stupider than that, a lot stupider.

No. I found the pic on instagram. There is a youtube video Badlands running oem wheels on 35 and 37 tires. 37 rubbed a little of full rotation or flex. I posted this pic to show op one does not need 4 inches lift to run 37.
I have a 2 dr Badlands 2.3 7sp AMB on order. My plan is to run 18x9 method 305 with 35x12.5 mud terrains on my stock ride height. Like this but with the darker blue.

I’ll see your Dana 44/9 inch combo and raise you two Dana 60’s. ;)
Just like real poker, I lose.! To the two 60’s.! We are talkin' about our new Broncos so my comment was wishful thinking for "from the factory" equipment.! 3 or 4 years ago, a Ford employee made a comment in a FB thread regarding the return of Bronco. (Wish I could find it) He claimed to be a member of the Bronco development team. He was emphatic that the new Bronco, when revealed, would definitely have a solid front axle.!! I would love to have been a fly on the wall in the "circle jerk" where this was hashed over.!
