Exactly what the title states - putting a thread together where we can come and post little tidbits of anything we have done today, and as we build them to our own tastes.

yea much lighter. I originally got the panel to mount a jerry can to but, I just can't bring myself to pay what companies want for the can and mounting hardware. it's insane. Especially since I'm never really that far from a gas station here in the southeast. Not sure what I'll ever hang from it. Trail trash bag maybe. Backup/work light??

Where do you keep your spare now?
22 badlands; 4door, manual transmission, soft top, non-sas, luxury pkg and a big dog.

Finished my new front and rear bumpers - and designed and built a removable platform to level the back with the seats so I can install my accessories drawer for all my recovery gear.

Nicely appointed Bronco! What brand are those bumpers, or are they custom-made? 😍

back corner of the shop. lol. I carry a repair kit and compressor so as long as it's not a blow out or a slash in the sidewall I'll be ok.

Thank you - I actually ordered them from Amazon. They are Vijay, they are very nice quality I did paint the light covers to match my theme of Badlands orange.

Finally got around to some house keeping items. I did the spare tire delete a while back but left the cables coming thru the rubber grommet so first up was to pull them back and pass them thru the vent behind the plate. Then i covered the hole with some vinyl. Gonna see if they make a plain rubber plug for it but the vinyl didn’t turn out too bad. Removed the tire bumpers as well. I also took the opportunity to paint the plate behind the mount orange. I wanted to do this originally but only had white paint. I put a fresh coat on the plates under my steps too. I made a plate to go behind the iag logo on my tailgate hinge panel but I didn’t have enough stainless steel bolts to mount it. No black ones either. Will have to pick some up. IMG_1617.jpeg

Do you off-road it? If so, what's the plan if you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere? Tire repair kits do work but.......

On top of that, a lot of club runs require you to have a spare.

Indeed. As you recall, I got a flat tire “in the middle of nowhere,” and it was no picnic changing the spare. At least the factory supplied jack performed satisfactorily on the forest floor, with the help of a jack stand. Good to know. 🤓 That said, it would have proven costly to have a rescue service come out to me!

I highly recommend the Badlands 1.5 ton jack it takes up some room but so glad I had it this past week.

I don’t know why yall are so concerned with my not having the spare. I don’t do club runs. So no one can force me to have a spare to “ride with them”.

Also, the cost of a 5th 37” tire for a spare is rediculous. Plus the cost of upgrading the mounting hardware to take the weight of the said 5th tire.

Also not only am I not carrying the spare, I don’t even have a matching one! 😁 the tire on the 5th rim is a 35” tire. I guess I COULD hang it back up there for emergency’s. But why?

If I recall, we were on a small off-shoot trail at the time which I assume would have added significant cost to any recovery...

Worse case, we could have loaded your tire into @OrangecrushBronco or my vehicle and drove it to a tire repair shop (probably at least 40 m miles away), had it repaired, and brought back to your Bronco. A serious PIA either way...

I'm still wondering what caused the flat in the 1st place since we didn't find any signs of the protrusion...

The spare came in handy and only put us down for what, like 10 minutes before we were back on the trails?

Was a super fun day though.. 👍

I'm only concerned if you are out on a run with a group, club run, whatever. Other than that, it's up to whoever you're out with. If the group doesn't mind you potentially inconveniencing them by holding up the entire group for a long time then that's up to them. But I can tell you from experience (not me, but someone with your attitude about no spare) it's a great way to stop getting invited to group runs.

The good news is that plug and patch kits have improved over time, so there's a pretty good chance you can get it repaired enough to get you off the trail using one of those and inconvenience the group less. So it's a question is how much risk are you, and the group, willing to take on.
