These Ford Performance tunes look like a great deal for Ford and their dealers. They collect about $800 with installation and then they reduce your powertrain warranty by 2 years and 24k miles. The caveat is I’ll bet a lot of folks that get the tune also bought the extended warranty.
I got the 2.7 on my 2 dr Sasquatch and think it’s plenty fast/powerful especially in sport mode.
If I was considering this tune I would wait and see the fallout problems that are incurred before I made the jump, but to each his own…

Where do you get the idea that FORD reduces your warranty? Nothing could be farther from the truth! The warranty statement on the PRO-CAL tool is only for the tool itself, it has no effect on the factory 3yr 36k warranty.

The powertrain warranty is 5 years and 60,000 miles. Does it effect that?

NO your warranty stays as is. You are better off to do the install of the tool yourself. You go to the website and setup a account for free that way you have access to your PRO-CAL info and when they do a update for the tool you can download it as needed.

Also after installing the software I disconnected the tool and put up for safe keeping. It is not necessary to leave it connected and it's just more clutter on the dash. And besides if some meth head sees it and steals it you are screwed, as the only way to restore it is to buy a new tool:(

Installation of these select Ford Performance warranted performance packs and components by an authorized installer will NOT void your New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Engine, driveline and suspension concerns not caused by the use of Ford Performance parts remain eligible for warranty coverage according to the terms of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

This is their warranty. They state “ Engine, driveline and suspension concerns NOT caused by the use of Ford Performance parts remain eligible for Warranty”

How about the the concerns CAUSED by their use.

That’s where I got the idea. It’s Fords statement not mine.

This is true even if you never installed a performance part. This is only a out if they see that abuse was the cause of failure. Ford had the same language for performance add on parts when I worked there. I never once in 15 years @ FORD seen or heard of anyone s warranty being denied because of a Pro-Cal tool from FMC that was installed on a customers car. Now lets talk about abuse! We had a customer buy a new Mustang GT for his son on a Friday for Graduation. On Monday morning the car had been towed in over the weekend with the Clutch (LITERALLY EXPLODED) and both back tires bald down to the cores. 210 miles showing on the odometer. Warranty denied at first by me and the factory Rep- came and looked at it the next day and stood behind my diagnosis of total abuse. 4 days later I get a call from FORD with a approval code to fix the car no cost to the customer. This is just one of many times I thought that FORD should not have fixed a car that was obviously abused and later on down the road we ended up fixing it under warranty.

1st paragraph: does not void the warranty
2nd: tune itself has a warranty
3rd: again tune does not void the warranty
4th: if the tune causes an issue with other parts while the tune is still under warranty then the tune warranty covers the repairs. Doesn’t really matter since the factory warranty would still be in place. Slightly alludes to if the tune causes problems after its warranty then those repairs won't be covered even under your normal warranty.

The above I copied off a mustang forum. It makes sense. It’s really hard to imagine that if your transmission goes out after the three years from new warranty runs out on the FP tune and your factory 5/60 is still intact that Ford is under any obligation to do the repairs if in fact they claim it was due in part to their tune. This is what is stated in their fine print. Again this is what Ford is saying not me…

Pretty much legal jargon and only meant to give FORD wiggle room if they feel as though you have abused your car. You would have a hard time finding any instance where ford tried to void a car warranty because they sold you a PRO-CAL tool. I am not a lawyer and don't profess to being a law expert. But I am a ASE Master Tech and a FORD trained Master Tech of over 45yrs service 15yrs at FORD and never once did I ever see a case where we tried to cancel a warranty claim for the use of any FORD Performance Part. That all being said, you have to do what makes you feel is the best thing for you.

Nope, but it goes something like "whirrrrrr...pop...bang bang bang CLANG...zzzzzzzip...whirrrrr...pop...bang bang bang CLANG..." :geek:

Seriously, not yet but I'm expecting to get it. My Badlands doesn't come with the Sport mode, so I imagine this is the closest thing I'll get to it.
Sport mode is super easy to add via FORSCAN and it’s nice.
